Reading Aloud to Middle School Students
Edutopia presented this article about reading aloud to student. From my experience, I know that right after lunch investing 5-7 minutes to turn down the lights, put on some soothing background music, and read aloud from a picture book or ongoing story, did wonders to calm students down and get them ready to focus on the upcoming lesson. The library has an assortment of picture books, fiction and non-fiction, that support curricular areas.
Textbook Return
Textbook Return begins Monday, May 20th for 8th-graders. Please remind students on Friday to bring their hardback textbooks on Monday. Families have been contacted via Synergy email.
7th-grade textbook return is scheduled for Wednesday, May 29th.
Sutori
Sutori is a great teaching tool. You may want to play with this over the summer! Students can use it as a presentation tool or you can use it as fresh way to present curriculum to your students. Check out Sutori's Teacher Tutorial. Karin Ledford and I designed one to promote and share what we do with district administration and the EGUSD School Board during School Library Month (April). Check out our Sutori here.
