2019-2020 KINDERGARTEN REGISTRATION PROCEDURES
Dear Parents/Guardians:
We are excited to announce that Kindergarten registration for the 2019-2020 school year will begin on February 4, 2019, following the schedule below. Kindergarten is an exciting and important year for students and their parents, and we are eager to welcome your child to the Matawan-Aberdeen Regional School District for the 2019-2020 school year.
A child of parent(s) or legal guardian(s) legally domiciled within the district is eligible for entrance into Kindergarten for the 2019-2020 school year if he/she attains the age of five on or before October 1, 2019.
Registration for all other grades (1-12) for the 2019-2020 school year will begin in May 2019 by appointment only.
Current Cambridge Park Preschool students are not required to complete the online pre-registration step. However, you will need to register for Kindergarten by following the steps outlined on the Current Cambridge Park PreK Students 2019-2020 Registration Procedures . Registration for current Cambridge Park Preschool students will begin the week of March 18, 2019.
The registration process consists of the following 4 steps:
Step 1: Complete the online Pre-Registration Form
The initial step requires the parent/guardian to complete an online pre-registration form prior to an in-person appointment: Online Pre-Registration Click HERE
Please make sure to click on 2019-2020 from the school year drop down list.
If you do not have access to a computer, you may schedule an appointment with the Central Registrar by calling (732) 705-4000 to use one of our chromebooks to complete the online pre-registration prior to your appointment date.
Step 2: Print out & Complete Registration Documents
Print out and complete the remaining registration documents which can be accessed here: Centralized Registration Packet Click HERE If you do not have a printer, please call the Central Registrar at (732) 705-4000.

You will reserve a time slot based on the school building your child will be attending in the Fall of 2019. Please choose only one time slot for your appointment. Teach Your Child to Think Things Through
There are many ways you can help your child learn to ask questions and think through problems. Here are some tips:
- Ask thinking questions. Say things like, "I wonder why that happened." Encourage your child to ask the same kinds of questions.
- Encourage your child to find facts to back up his opinions. If he feels strongly about an issue, help him write a letter to the newspaper or a local official.
- Ask questions about schoolwork. After your child reads a chapter from his book, ask him what he thinks is the most important thing he read.
- Talk about the questions your child’s teachers are asking, not just what they are teaching. In social studies, the teacher might have asked, "Why did people come to live in the Americas?"
- Think out loud. We don’t always let our children know how we solve problems. The next time you face a decision, share your thoughts. Talk about each step. Your child will see what it takes to think a problem through.
