Hello JMS,
This week we continue with our testing of the Algebra I Keystones and the PSSA Science. Although these assessments are specific to 8th grade students, we will have adjusted bell schedules on these days for ALL grades so be sure to review the Keystone and PSSA Bell Schedules.

Algebra 1 Keystone Information (8th Grade)
Algebra I Keystone Exam - 5/24, 5/25
We will begin our Algebra I Keystone testing on Monday, May 24th. This exam is required for any student who is currently taking 8th Grade Math with Mrs. Luptak and Mrs. Hogel.
If Your Child Is Not Participating in the Keystone Exam
If your child is not participating in the Keystone exam they should remain at home during the testing time. They will then arrive at JMS beginning at 10:20 and follow the Keystone Testing Bell Schedule (Keystone schedule is on the last page). If your child is in the Cyber Cohort they should plan to log into their class according to the Keystone Testing Bell Schedule.
If you are in the Cyber Cohort and Are Participating in the Keystone Exam
If you are in the Cyber Cohort and are participating in the Keystone Exam, your child should report to JMS between 7:45 and 8:00. Your child will be excused to return home at the conclusion of the exam, we anticipate this being around 10:30. You may pick your child up at the front entrance. Students are also permitted to walk home, but please know that there may not be crossing guards on duty at all crosswalks.
If you are in the B Cohort (Thursday/Friday) and Are Participating in the Keystone Exam
If you are in the B Cohort (Thursday/Friday) and are participating in the Keystone Exam, your child should report to JMS between 7:45 and 8:00. Your child will be excused to return home at the conclusion of the exam, we anticipate this being around 10:30. You may pick your child up at the front entrance. PSSA Science Information (8th Grade)
We will begin our PSSA SCIENCE testing on Wednesday, May 26th. Our testing days are as follows:

New Information
June 4th - Last Day of School - Fully Remote
The final day for in-person instruction will be Thursday, June 3. Friday, June 4th will be a fully remote, synchronous day with a 12:00 dismissal for all students.
The District is planning to host the 2nd dose Pfizer clinic for those 12 years of age and older on Friday, June 4, from 9 am - 1 pm at the High School’s South Gym.
Former Lincoln Elementary Families - Mr. Hall's Mural
The Lincoln Mural Committee, along with the support of our Lincoln PTA, has commissioned an artist to paint a mural in the school to honor Mr. Hall. He retired 3 years ago after 38 years as a Special Education Teacher, 32 of which were spent at Lincoln. Please see the link above if you would like to contribute.
Other Information
20221 Summer Mt. Lebanon Academy (students in incoming grades 6-12)
We are excited to offer the 2021 Summer Mt. Lebanon Academy for Students in Incoming Grades 6-12, a program that complements our traditional Summer Enrichment offerings.
Please refer to the Mt. Lebanon Summer Academy Brochure for Students in Incoming Grades 6-12 for a complete list and descriptions. Students can enroll in as many clinics as their schedule permits.
There is no cost for any of the clinics or labs. Funding will be provided through the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act.

Family Resources for Conversations about Current Events
These resources include content on race and racism, the police-involved killing of Black people, activism, equity and social justice. They also include an updated Table Talk family discussion guide that include questions for starting these conversations with your children at home.
Talking To Your Child About Discrimination and Bias
In an effort to continue to educate our students, families and the community about discrimination and bias we wanted to share the following resources with you.

This essential conversation and continued education is imperative if we are committed to creating a school and community that is welcoming and inclusive. These conversations are bigger than JMS and must also take place at home and throughout the community. Please help us, as a school and as a community, continue to grow in our in our understanding about discrimination and bias.
The Mt. Lebanon School District will continue serving free Grab-and-Go Meals to any student in the community under the age of 18, with no eligibility requirements, until further notice. The meals will be distributed at the elementary schools.
Meals will be available from 10:45 until 1:15 every day to accommodate all students during their lunch periods.

Once you have submitted your form, you will receive status emails including device pickup details from an @mtlsd.net email address. Safe2Say Something is a youth violence prevention program run by the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General. The program teaches youth and adults how to recognize warning signs and signals, especially within social media, from individuals who may be a threat to themselves or others and to “say something” BEFORE it is too late. With Safe2Say Something, it’s easy and confidential to report safety concerns to help prevent violence and tragedies.
Here’s how it works:
- Submit a report through the Safe2SaySomething system
- Crisis center reviews, assesses and processes all submissions
- Crisis center sends all submissions to school administration and/or law enforcement for intervention
- If needed, crisis center may contact tipster anonymously through the app

LEBO varsity Head Coach Bob Palko and staff welcome you to our upcoming Youth/Middle School Football Camp. Students will be trained on proper running/speed mechanics, drills to enhance change of direction, and proper form for on-field strength training. Players will also learn fundamental football skills including proper & safe tackling form, pace and intensity of practice-type reps, and simulated live football scenarios.

Clipping Box Tops is an easy way to earn money for our school. Each Box Top is worth 10 cents, so don't forget to physically and electronically clip the for us! The clipped Box Tops can be turned into the office.
