Job Announcements
Wrangell Public Schools is accepting applications for the following position for the 2019-2020 school year:
Business Manager: This is a 12-month position with benefits paid on the Exempt Employee Salary Schedule.
Responsibilities include oversight of the school budget using a uniform chart of accounts coding, maintaining financial records, conducting all banking, payroll, accounts payable, annual audit preparation and advising the superintendent in all matters that are financially relevant for the district. Degree in business and/or five years’ experience in school business management preferred.
Migrant Education Teacher/Intervention Specialist
This position is anticipated to begin on January 6, 2019.
This is a half-time teaching position providing intervention for migrant education students in grades K-12. The applicant must have the ability to work with classroom teachers to determine student academic needs and provide intervention strategies to raise student achievement. The successful applicant will also serve as migrant liaison for students who miss school due to a qualifying migrant work activity. The applicant must also be able to plan and coordinate migrant family events.
A current Alaska Teaching certificate is required.
Migrant Paraprofessional: This is a part-time instructional aide position working with students, 5.75 hours per day in small groups and one-on-one in the Migrant Education Program at Wrangell High School. This position is paid on column B of the Classified Salary Schedule.

K-12 School Counselor: the counselor is responsible for data collection related to social, emotional and personal counseling and guidance for students assigned.
• Valid Alaskan Type C Special Services Certificate required, with an endorsement as Counselor.
• Alaskan Type A Teaching Certificate preferred.
• At least one year demonstrated successful educational counseling experience preferred.
Responsibilities:
A. It is the responsibility of the counselor to maintain competency in areas of certification and assignment.
B. It is the responsibility of the counselor to provide for counseling opportunities and a planned sequence of career guidance activities for students.
C. It is the responsibility of the counselor to provide consulting service to the teachers, administrator and parents.
D. It is the responsibility of the counselor to provide information and recommendations for education and career placement, and to make health, psychological and legal referrals.
E. It is the responsibility of the counselor to share in the facilitation of district wide testing program to include statewide assessments and MAP testing, assessments and surveys including administration, information, interpretation, staff training and evaluation of results.
F. It is the responsibility of the counselor to strive for harmonious and cooperative relationships with staff, students, parents and community.
G. It is the responsibility of the counselor to encourage community participation, maintain a positive image, and to develop contacts in the community.
Anticipated Start Date: January 6, 2020.
