FROM THE DESK OF MR. FRAY
GBHS Families-
Despite the late arrival of winter weather these past few weeks, I am excited that the official start of spring is less than 3 weeks away. While I do not personally have plans for Spring Break I know that many of you have started the countdown to March 24!
Before the warm weather officially arrives I want to take a moment to encourage all of our families to have discussions at home about the importance of daily attendance at school. One of the issues we continue to see as a concern after the COVID-19 pandemic years is a decrease in student daily attendance. There is no doubt that regular attendance at school is a significant impact on academic achievement. When students improve their attendance rates, they improve their academic prospects and chances for graduating.
Finally, I want to share with everyone an update on the campus construction projects.
- The Esports room construction is almost complete with plans to be available for student use by March 15.
- A new science room at west campus recently opened and is being use daily by our special education teachers and students
- The PAES (Practical Assessment Exploration System) Lab is up and running to help support students with practical job skills as they plan for their transition from high school
- Our new stadium and natatorium are in the home stretch with a grand opening target date of May 19. We will have events for both students and community members on that day as we look forward to celebrating the opening of this facility with our Bobcat Community
As always, it is an exciting time to be at GBHS and I am grateful for all of the student and parent support. Go Bobcats!
