What to Bring on Test Day
There are only a few things you really need to bring on test day, and a lot of things you're better off leaving at home. Be sure to bring:
- Your fully charged device. You must have the app installed and exam setup complete before test day if you're testing with a personal device.
- A power cord and/or a portable charger. We cannot guarantee you'll have access to an outlet during testing. Your device should be able to hold a charge for 3–4 hours.
- A pencil or pen.
- Scratch paper will be provided—do not bring your own.
- An approved calculator. There’s a graphing calculator built into the app, but you can bring your own if you like.
- An external mouse if you use one.
State Testing Calendar
Testing season is upon us! This is an opportunity for students to apply what they have learned. Please review the testing calendar below and make every effort to avoid appointments or other scheduled absences during your child's testing date(s). If a student is absent on a scheduled testing date, they will be testing during the makeup window dates. Thank you for your cooperation.

North Oakland Community Coalition Presentations
Understanding the impact that vaping has on today’s students, Lake Orion Community Schools and the North Oakland Community Coalition (NOCC) have partnered to provide middle level students informational presentations designed to prevent vaping.
In the coming weeks, NOCC will provide presentations to sixth, seventh, and eighth grade students that reviews the basics of what vaping is, the dangers associated with vape use, and the consequences of vaping as it relates to school discipline and the law. Students at all three LOCS middle schools will receive this information this spring.

Free & Reduced Meal Information
Even though all meals are free for the 2023-24 school year, there are other education benefits provided to the district, individual school building, or household that require an individual student benefit (free, reduced, paid) to be determined each year.
We’re asking every family to complete and submit either the School Meal Application or Education Benefits Form (formerly the Household Information Report.) The information collected is used to provide additional services and benefits beyond school meals, like resources for classrooms, teachers, and children, guidance and college counselors, and health and wellness services. Summer EBT benefits are also available for eligible households. Families can apply at lakeorion.familyportal.cloud.
There is more information available about the benefits as well.
Distinguished Dragon Staff Recognition
Lake Orion Community Schools is launching a program in 2023-24 to recognize LOCS staff members for their excellence.
The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at Distinguished Dragon Submission
We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
