What a great week! The first graders were AMAZING in their Disney Musical, 5th grade student, Caleb K., was a guest speaker at the ground-breaking ceremony for Angeline Washington Elementary School, and Ms. Mathiason was recognized for her Park Hill Star Nomination!!
Staff Drill-- March 7th After School
On Thursday, March 7th, between 4:30 and 6:30 pm you will notice a police presence at Hawthorn. Our staff will be participating in a required Intruder Training. During this training staff from the Platte County Sheriff's Department will be here helping us learn about and practice scenarios so that we are prepared in any situation to keep students safe. We didn't want you to see police cars and worry.
If your child attends Adventure Club, you should have received information letting you know of their change in location on that day.
Please reach out with any questions you have.
Message from Nutrition Services
Park Hill School District Elementary Families,
We wanted to provide you with some information about a menu item that is going to be re-introduced to our lunch selections on half-days of school during the year. On the upcoming half day of school, Friday, March 8th, Nutrition Services will offer elementary students two popular entrées choices for lunch – a hot Breaded Chicken Sandwich or a commercially prepared prepackaged Peanut Butter and Jelly Uncrustable Sandwich. Fresh Baby Carrots and Apple Slices will accompany both menu options, along with a choice of milk. The re-introduction of the peanut butter and jelly sandwich is new to our elementary school setting and we wanted our families to be aware of the addition.
If you have questions or concerns, please feel free to contact Nutrition Services at 816-359-4090 or your school Health Room. We want to ensure our students with special dietary and allergen considerations continue to be taken care of during this adjustment.

Community Events
Hawthorn Day at the Park Hill Clothing Center
The Park Hill PTA Clothing Center always needs volunteers to help hang clothes for shoppers. This year each school will be responsible for one time slot. If anyone can help, Hawthorn Day will be Friday March 15th. Students will need to be chaperoned by an adult. Hopefully we can get a crowd together to help out and have fun. Students are also welcome to take clothes home if they see anything they like. The Sign Up Genius is below, just scroll down to the correct date. If that date and time doesn't work there are other options available as well. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/508084FA4A72BA0FA7-canyou
Thanks so much for helping us help the kids!

Nominate a Staff Member for the Park Hill STAR Award
Our employees are the reason we are so successful here in the Park Hill School District, and we would like to recognize them for all they do for our students.
That is why we present the Park Hill Star award once a month to a pre-K or elementary teacher, a secondary teacher and a support employee. Anyone can nominate an employee for this award by using the form below. It asks you to share how your nominee demonstrates our district values of continuous improvement, high expectations, integrity, visionary leadership and student focus. You can also share how your nominee supports the goals in our district’s strategic plan.
