A message from Mrs. Sideris
We are so excited to reconnect with our families and get to know our new families. Thank you all so much for your patience as we navigate through this new adventure. We are planning an amazing school year for your students and can't wait to begin.
There are so many things to update you on. So here goes......
All the best,
Mrs. Sideris
Welcome New BC Staff
Monica Weathersby 5th Grade Teacher
Hello,
I am excited to join Butler Creek this school year. It will be an interesting year for sure, but new and exciting for me as well.
I am a mother of four. I enjoy kayaking, hiking, and multiple crafts.
I am a graduate of Eastern Oregon University. I taught 5th grade at Sandy Grade school. In Centennial , I taught 4th and 6th grades at Parklane Elementary.
I hope to see all of you soon:) (via zoom!)
Michael Wohlers Physical Education
Hello! My name is Michael Wohlers. I graduated from Gresham High School. I went to college at VIU in BC on a full athletic scholarship for basketball. I did my masters degree in teaching at Concordia University. The last three years I have taught Health and PE at Centennial High School, and have coached volleyball and basketball. In my free time I enjoy the gym/fitness, basketball, golf, coaching, traveling and wakeboarding all summer on my boat. I look forward to meeting the students and families at Butler Creek!
Leslie Ward 4th Grade Teacher
I am thrilled to join the Butler Creek 4th grade team this year. I was a K12 teaching artist/arts integration specialist and on university faculty before coming to the elementary classroom. I have my Master’s and ESOL endorsement from Lewis & Clark College and taught on the ELD team last year at Powell Butte. In my spare time, I love to dance, write, and listen to audiobooks on long hikes through the city. I can’t wait to meet all of you and learn together in our one-of-a-kind year!
What's Happening This Year
First 2 Weeks of School September 9-18
What does a school day look like for my student?
During the week:
Teachers will engage students and families in a variety of ways that may include
Smaller group meetings (synchronous/live)
Individual family support
Practice Breakout Sessions
Independent Applied Learning
Definitions of Learning Modes:
Synchronous Learning- Students meet in a class with a teacher live. This may include small group breakouts.
Asynchronous Learning/Applied Learning Teacher post learning opportunities including videos, reading ,practice and application connected to synchronous class sessions. The time is flexible for students and assigned reading or practice does not necessarily fill the entire period of time.
We will continue to update families as we learn more about how we will support your child during Comprehensive Distance Learning. Please refer to our district website for the most up to date information.

If this presents a problem for your household, please contact Mary Gilbert or Corinna Jobe at (503)762-6100 to see if you may be eligible for free Internet services for the school year. This service is provided by an outside vendor and will require that you fill out an application to see if you qualify.
When Will We Find Out About Class Placement Information?
