Principal's Perspective
It was such a fun week at the Glen! We celebrated leap day by Leaping into Reading with a whole school reading celebration! From forts for reading, pajamas for cozying up with a good book, and flashlights for reading in the dark in the MPR we sure had fun! To top it off the Westfield Middle School 7th grade basketball team came and read to many of our classes today. Check out our Facebook page for more pictures!
As a reminder, we have NO SCHOOL tomorrow or Friday for end of trimester reporting/grades and staff professional development. Enjoy the long weekend!

Hello families!
Testing Tidbits:
3rd grade! Just a reminder, IREAD-3 testing starts next week, March 4. Please make sure your child has a pair of working, wired headphones at school. They will need them for the listening part of the test. Please make sure students are well rested and on time to school. We will be testing March 4, 5, and 6th. If you have any questions, please reach out to your teacher or Mrs. Baud.
If your 4th grader is retesting for IREAD-3, a separate message went out about those testing dates.
Safety:
Before the cold weather came in today, we took advantage of the warm days and got our February Fire Drill in. The kids did great!
As always, if you have any questions, please feel free to contact me!

Dear families,
In 2018, the state of Indiana passed a law requiring all public, charter, and accredited private schools to provide child abuse prevention education to students in kindergarten through 12th grades. We are proud to continue our partnership with Indiana Prevention. Think First and Stay Safe and Teen Lures (formerly known as Body Safety) are comprehensive body safety education programs that teach children in grades K-12 ways to keep their bodies safe. The children will learn appropriate ways to prevent, respond to, and report situations such as bullying, cyber-bullying, and all forms of abuse or neglect.
The program will be presented to children at Maple Glen during the week of March 4, 2024. Each presentation will be given in individual classrooms and will last approximately 45 minutes. This evidence-based program provides basic abuse prevention education to students. Students will learn anatomically correct names for private body parts, basic body safety rules, how to recognize common tactics – or lures – abusers use to manipulate their victims and be encouraged to talk to their trusted adults if they have a safety concern. It is essential that we empower our children with knowledge and tools to protect themselves from potential harm.
Although not required, each child's attendance in the program is strongly recommended. For additional information regarding our programs please visit our website at: www.indianaprevention.org You can view a parent presentation on this page at https://www.indianaprevention.org/parentresources.
If you would NOT like your child to participate in this programming, please fill out this form and return to Mrs. Newman by Friday, March 1st. At this time, zero opt out forms have been received. Please fill out the form if you would like to OPT OUT.
For additional information regarding our programs or to participate in an adult education prevention course, please visit our website at www.indianaprevention.org. You can also contact Megan Banet at megan@indianaprevention.org or 317-759-8008 with questions or concerns.
Thank you for your partnership in our efforts to keep the children of our community safe!

Attendance
Please do this even if you let your child's classroom teacher know about the absence. This will ensure that our attendance secretary receives the information.
