All requests will be official Thursday, April 30th.
Naviance: Career Interest Profiler
This year, freshmen completed a Career Interest Profiler in Naviance with counselors in the computer lab. The Career Interest Profiler is an online career interest assessment for students based on Holland's interest codes. It allows students to complete an inventory which analyzes their own interests and pairs the results with potential career matches.
We encourage all freshmen to log on to Naviance (through their Aspen account, click on the giant 'N' icon on their home page and it will automatically log them in) and review their results and matching careers! Students can find the survey under the 'About Me' tab under 'My Assessments.'
Once the survey is complete, students will view a results page that calculates your interest scores using six categories: Realistic, Investigative, Artistic, Social, Enterprising, and Conventional.
To see a list of careers that best fit these types of interests, click the “View Matching Occupation List” button. The list is organized by the amount of preparation required to be successful in each career.
Happy Surveying!
Naviance: Do What You Are
This fall, sophomores completed the 'Do What You Are' assessment in Naviance with counselors in computer labs. 'Do What You Are' is a personality assessment. It reveals information about a student’s strengths and blind spots, recommended career paths and college majors, as well as tips for conducting the most effective career search.
We encourage all sophomores to log on to Naviance (through their Aspen account, click on the giant 'N' icon on their home page and it will automatically log them in) and review their results and tips! Students can find the survey under the 'About Me' tab under 'My Assessments.'
Naviance offers multiple assessments sophomores may be interested in taking to learn more about matching career paths and college majors that may fit their interests, strengths, and personalities. We hope you'll check them out!
Boston College Fair Goes Digital
Since the Boston College Fair was cancelled and cannot send you hard copies of College Fair Guide, please accept this digital edition. Students and parents will find important information to help in the college search process.
Virtual College Exploration Week: April 20 - 23. Four full days of virtual presentations for high school juniors to explore college opportunities.
Students may register at www.strivescan.com
MEFA: After the College Acceptance
Even if the student in your family has only been accepted to just one college, your child needs to be sure that it’s the right college for him or her. Your family also needs to make sure you can afford it. If your child has been accepted to multiple colleges, you’ll need to compare the attributes of the different schools, including the costs, and make the best choice.
At this important time of year, here are all the ways you can connect with MEFA to get the help you need:
- Understand and analyze the financial aid offers you’ve received
- Know your options if you haven’t yet applied for aid
- Determine your balance due at each school
- Plan for the use of your college savings
- Learn about college payment plans
- Create a payment strategy
- Choose the right financing options for your situation
Reference MEFA's After the College Acceptance page anytime to access resources to help your family with the college decision, including calculators, articles, and tip sheets.
If you have any questions about planning and paying for higher education, you can call MEFA at (800) 449-6332 or email at collegeplanning@mefa.org. They are happy to provide additional information and help you walk through the process of making this college decision.
