Wishing Everyone JOY in 2020
Hoping 2019 was a good one!
The Langans
So, we are taking a little break from the LANGAN Christmas card and hope you enjoy this newsletter with some pictures and updates! We had another busy year and did get to Florida for spring break and Washington DC this summer. DC was hot as heck but we still enjoyed the sites and got to have lunch with a former student!! This picture was from the Hootie and the Blowfish concert at the Iowa State Fair.
Junette Ethelyn
So, the last kid my mom babysat for after she retired, is all grown up and recently had a little girl. Amos honored Ethelyn's memory in a very special way by naming his daughter after her. Mary Ann and I got to meet this precious baby at Anna's wedding and we gave her a blanket with crochet squares that mom made before she died. It was very special!!
Not Quite Brothers Groupies
So, the nephews have been playing lots of gigs around the area and we have had a ton of fun following them! The music they play is good old rock and roll and they have some big gigs coming up this year. Try to make it out to see them sometime if you can!! They will be at the Gallagher Bluedorn on February 8th opening for The Pork Tornadoes! Join us!!
Homecoming Dress Up Days
So, for Homecoming this fall, we had a meme day. After explaining what the heck a meme is, my creative colleagues came up with the Bird Box theme from the Sandra Bullock movie last winter. It was pretty creative and we had a lot of fun! YOU MUST DO EVERYTHING I TELL YOU!!
Sandra Bullock's twin
It helps that Carrie, one of our counselors, looks just like Sandra Bullock!! If you haven't seen Bird Box, check it out on Netflix!!
School
We have a lot of fun and laughs in our office and I am fortunate to work with great people! We have had a lot going on during the last couple of years and last winter, the many snow days made for a short summer. Summer days were spent water walking and catching up on social time! I am still not ready for retirement but I do think I am getting closer!
Bouncer at Becker
Shawn is still enjoying his job working at Becker Elementary. Last year, Waterloo Schools even recognized him as one of their Employees of the Year. Of course, he didn't like the attention but it was pretty cool and he is making a positive difference with his students.
Tiger Wrestling Coach
Shawn continues his wrestling coaching career at CFHS. It is actually kind of fun when students realize he is my husband or vice versa. They worked hard all summer and Shawn didn't miss many days. Summer is where the champions are made!
The Bald Guy
Shawn works with some great coaches and he is even working with the little kid's club. He really enjoys working with all of these guys and the kids and it keeps him busy and young!
40th Class Reunion
One of the highlights of the summer was taking a tour of our old high school. It was a hoot seeing some of the same things that were at Garnavillo High School 40 years ago. It truly seems crazy that we graduated that many years ago.
Class of 1979
Our picture wasn't on the wall but the superintendent had some of the old ones out for people to see. It is crazy to see all of those familiar faces from so long ago. It is great to keep in touch with quite a few of my classmates on Facebook and always fun to get together and reminisce about the good old days.
Pull Ups UGGGGHHHHH!!!
So, just the sight of the pull-up bar gave me anxiety. I hated it in high school and could never stay up there for very long. I couldn't believe it was still on the wall.
Happy 2020!!!
We sincerely hope everyone has joy in 2020. It goes without saying that every day is truly a gift and Shawn and I remind each other of this often. We are looking forward to spending time with our families over the break and we hope you all have a wonderful holiday and enjoy the new year!!
LOVE YOU ALL! Merry Christmas and Happy NEW Year!
SUSAN AND SHAWN
