Principal's Message
Hello Grizzlies,
We are approaching the final stretch of the school year. You will see a lot of information in this newsletter about end of year events. For those students that have grades that they want to improve, there is still time! Make every effort to turn in missing assignments. If students are missing tests or quizzes, they should talk to their teachers to schedule a time to take them. We want to support students and encourage them to put in the extra effort to pass as many classes as possible.
The last day for students in grades 9-11 to turn in late or missing assignments will be June 11th. The last day of school will be June 18th.
The last day for Seniors to turn in assignments will be June 8th and that will be their last day on campus. Seniors will not have class on June 9 or 10. Graduation will be held on June 11th, please see below for more details.
Grizzlies, keep your eye on the prize and let’s make the most of the last 5 weeks of school we have left.
Sincerely,
Benjamin Bell
Masks Still Required on School Campuses
Yesterday the CDC released new guidance related to fully vaccinated individuals and the use of face coverings and physical distancing.
Governor Brown issued a video statement on how this new guidance will be implemented in Oregon. In her statement she shared, "Nothing is changing for schools this school year, and I expect education staff and students to continue to wear masks and physically distance, as outlined in our Ready Schools, Safe Learners guidance." This also applies to all other individuals on school campus, including but not limited to: family members, volunteers, visitors, SROs, and other partners.
ODE is currently working with OHA on guidance for next school year.

Ashland High Summer School Credit Recovery Opportunities!
This has been a tough year. We know that despite everyone’s best efforts, many students fell behind on credits. Thanks to a generous grant from the state of Oregon, we are happy to announce a quite robust array of credit recovery opportunities over the summer. It is critically important for our students to be able to start next year with the credits needed to make graduation a certainty.
Our summer school will allow students to recover up to a total of 6 credits during a six-week period.
The program be divided into two sessions: July 12-30 and August 2-20.
Classes will be held Monday through Thursday with a few enrichment field trips offered on Fridays for specific classes. Students may take up to 3 recovery classes per session. Credits may be recovered for both this academic year as well as past academic years. With the exception of certain math situations, classes will be graded as Pass/No Mark.
All instruction will be in-person and on the Ashland High School campus. Both breakfast and lunch will be provided and transportation will be available. There is no cost!
Classes available for recovery will include:
Humanities: English 9, Global Studies, English 10, American Studies, English selectives
Science: Both life and physical science credits can be recovered.
Math: a wide array of math offerings will be offered depending on need and numbers. This will include a math fundamentals refresher, Integrated Math 1, Integrated Math 2, and Algebra 2. Students may be able to take the classes if they did not pass OR If they wish to improve their grades to be eligible for college or to move on to the next math level.
PE/Health:
Electives: If students need elective credits, they may pair what they did with the offering we will have to earn elective credit.
If students need credits that are not listed above, there will be additional computer-based credit recovery options. Students will still need to attend in person to complete those.
If you are interested in signing up for this amazing opportunity, please contact Glenna Stiles or Maurice Monteiro at the high school.
AHS Bond Improvement Project
Students and Families are invited to participate in a Bond Site Committee Meeting on May 18 at 4:00 pm. Hear from bond architects and project managers about the current state of the design. There will be opportunities for questions and input.
