NACEE
The North Alabama Center for Educational Excellence (NACEE) has once again been awarded a Talent Search grant. We are excited to continue offering free support services to the students of Lee High School.
The Talent Search Program identifies and assists individuals from underrepresented populations who have the potential to succeed in higher education.
I would like to meet with you to discuss the free services (virtual and in-person) we will be able to give to your students, including:
- Tutorial services
- Academic, financial, career counseling
- Post-secondary school information
- Exposure to college campuses
- Career exploration
- Mentoring/job shadowing
- ACT Prep
- Assistance in completing college admissions and financial aid applications
- STEM and STEAM activities
- Summer component
- Workshops for families of participants
- And more!
Freshman Students of the Week
Shout-out to our Freshmen of the Week! Krystal Alexander comes to us from Chapman Middle School. She enjoys drawing in her free time and loves hot chocolate. She currently participates in the choir and wants to be in the visual arts magnet next year. Phoenix Garcia comes to us from the Academy for Academics and Arts. He participates in JROTC and the Art Magnet. In his free time, he enjoys drawing, designing robots, and drawing out things to build. In the future, he wants to be an artist or a member of the Space Force. Way to go!!!

This Saturday, Lee students will be performing Holiday selections at Bridgestreet from 1-3pm. We invite everyone to join us on December 11 at 3pm at the Lee High Mainstage for our Winter Band Concert! We also invite everyone to join us Sunday December 12 at 7pm for our Winter Choir Concert!
Celebrations
All of our students who participated in State Trumbauer Theatre Competition this weekend at Troy did an amazing job!!! Students competed in individual, duet, and group scenes. From our students who participated in individual or duet events, we had 26 students who received a superior rating and 10 students who received an excellent rating! We also had several students who scored in the top 3 in their category!

We are still waiting on the ratings for our students who participated in group events and the One Act, but we are so proud of the work they did!! We do already know that we had one student selected for All Star Cast: Alyssa Slocum!
Shoutout to all the teachers who helped chaperone and support our students who competed at state: Mr. Comer, Mrs. Fields, Ms. Daniel, Mrs. Hunkapillar, Mr. Lee, Mrs. Landrith-Lee, and Mr. Carter!! Also, thank you to all the teachers who sent words of encouragement before our students left and messages to them while they were at state!

9th- 12th Grade – Join your grade level Schoology group! The College Counselors post relevant information in the grade level Schoology groups including scholarships, college info, financial aid, upcoming events and more as appropriate for each grade level. Make sure students are checking the “Updates” for these groups regularly.
11th & 12th Grade – Local Scholarship List – Check out the attached list of local scholarships! We update this list as we receive opportunities from local organizations throughout the year.
2022 Weekend Scholar (WES) Program
The Greater Huntsville (AL) Chapter of the Links Incorporated is pleased to announce the 2022 Weekend Scholar (WES) Program, which is a signature youth enrichment program designed to motivate, stimulate and engage the curiosity of students in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Health, International Issues, Math, and Life Skills training, through real-world experiences. The program is geared toward students in high school but we are focused on recruiting students in grades 9 and 10 as noted in the attached WES cover letter.
