From the Principal.....
Dear Mustang Families,
The Mustang staff are committed to creating a year of excellence for our children as we focus on bringing our students, staff and community together to "Believe” in our path together. "Believe" is our motto as we continue to focus on making our district vision and mission the core of our daily work with children, teachers and parents. This will guide our work to believe in our students, our staff and our families working together. We're going to believe in each other in our quest to make a difference. #McBrideBelieve
As always, please feel free to reach out with question, concerns or compliments!
Sincerely,
Lisa Tyler

Oregon Talking Books
Do you know someone with a print disability such as legal blindness or other visual impairment, physical impairments, or reading impairments like dyslexia or aphasia? The State Library of Oregon has free Talking Books for Oregonians of every age. Follow the link below to verify qualifications and obtain a registration form:

Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB)
OBOB groups are formed based on the availability of volunteer coaches. This year we did not have volunteers who felt they could offer to coach, due to previous commitments. Therefore, we are not able to offer OBOB teams to students. We look forward to the possibility of doing so next year should volunteers become available. This year’s wonderful award-winning OBOB books are available for our student reading pleasure in our school library. Stop by and check them out. Thank you for your interest and understanding.
McBride Readers’ Read-opoly
If students read for 5 minutes a day they have the opportunity to be exposed to approximately 282,000 words in one year. Reading for 20 minutes a day can have a major impact on students. Kids who read daily for 20 minutes score in the upper 10% on standardized tests. In just one year they are exposed to approximately 1.8 million words. That’s almost 2 millions words a year which is is phenomenal!
Keep reading and filling up your Read-opoly boards. Each filled board enters the student’s name in our drawings for books, bookmarks, and book fair gift certificates. Happy reading!
McBride's First Tidy Up Tuesday
At McBride, we are lucky to have a fantastic custodial team who keep our bathrooms, cafeteria, and learning spaces clean and sanitized. We BELIEVE that students and staff deserve the best environment possible for learning. We also believe that each and every Mustang has a responsibility for taking care of our building and school grounds.
Working TOGETHER on Tuesday, October 29th; teachers and students will be invited to "adopt" a section of hallway to "tidy-up. This will be the first "Tidy-Up Tuesday" of the year. Every other month a Tuesday will be scheduled and a task will be given, for classes to participate in.
We BELIEVE that working together as a team to care for our school demonstrates responsibility and pride of ownership. McBride Mustangs have pride. We have pride in ourselves, pride in each other, and pride in our school building.

Together "Believe" Awards
Teaching requires extra hands and I am so appreciative of the adult helpers in my room this year. Thank you to my parent volunteer, Michelle Thompson, for photographing the Fun Run and pumpkin patch with her daughter Alexus. Another shout out to Lee Ann Cutright and Grandma Gay who have been helping with classroom activities and Art Lit class. I am so grateful to have you as a part of my kindergarten class community. From Mrs. Kunders
Heidi Green (Success Coach) Thank you, Mrs. Green, for caring about all of our students. It's definitely more than a job for Mrs. Green!
5th Grade Teaching Team (and students) Mr. McCartney, Miss George and Mrs. Vilante were flexible with very little notice by coming up with lunchroom seating charts quickly so we were able to implement the assigned seats the very next day. They also walked their classes into the cafeteria and "practiced" the new seating arrangement so kids knew where to go. This made an immediate difference in 5-grade lunch behaviors. Thank you so much!
Kerry Marshall (Counselor) and Heidi Green (Success Coach
Both have been instrumental in supporting McBride students and teachers these past few weeks. YOU ROCK!!
Jamie Griffin (McBride Parent and Guest Teacher) Mrs. Griffin is doing an amazing job as a Guest Teacher and my kids love her! She also volunteered this week and helped me progress monitor my 80% so I could get a read on all my kids.
Rosalie Sumsion (Title Teacher) Mrs. Sumsion has such a caring heart and is always willing to jump in and help out even if it means she is missing out on her own planning or lunch time. She is one of the kindest people I know.
Cindi Johnson (Speech Team) Mrs. Johnson is so flexible and willing to change plans at a moment's notice to support needed schedule changes. She does it with a smile. It's SO appreciated at a really busy time of the year!
