BYOT Equity Issues
I love this recent blog post by Dr. Tim Clark of byotnetwork.com. Teachers are often concerned with issues of equity regarding how many students have devices of their own, but what about inequity between classrooms in a school? Some teachers choose to utilize technology tools and resources to help kids learn, where others do not. Let's face it, we live in a digital world and we'd be doing our students a disservice if we didn't equip them with the digital skills to succeed in this world. Dr. Clark encourages teachers to empower students to take the reins in their own learning. For example, don't feel as if you have to tell students exactly how to present their work. Instead, offer them choice to decide how to best present their ideas based on their strengths. This post is definitely worth the read and Tim says it better than I ever could!
