Clubs and Classrooms
- Students teaching students: Many thanks to members of our STEM Board who provided feedback and helped judge the annual FEB Science Expo. Staff members from the high school science department helped out as well! Learning is indeed a lifelong activity for all Rye Neckers! See pic here!
- ECO Club made dog toys and mats from recycled plastic bags and old discarded t-shirts. See pics here! The club is collecting plastic bags and t-shirts for future projects! Drop any contributions off at the main office!
- Student of the Week: Rye Neck's Ryan Varga is leading the pack in Lohud's Student of the Week Contest; he was nominated by Mr. VanCraeynest. See pic here See article here
- CODA Youth Summit (SADD): On Thursday, members of SADD and Student Senate attended the annual virtual CODA (Co-Occuring Disorder Awareness) Conference. The goal of the conference is to engage students in activities that help them learn about the disorder and bring awareness of it to their schools and communities. See pic here!
- On Friday, members of SADD held their annual Grim Reaper Day, raising awareness of the dangers of drinking, drugging and distracted driving. The day focused on the lives destroyed as a result of destructive decisions. Many thanks to the officers who worked tirelessly coordinating this event.

We are happy to announce that two of our Rye Neck Science Research students received awards at the Westchester Science and Engineering Fair (WESEF) 2024 held on March 16th. We are so proud of all their hard work and dedication!
- Ella Grann was recognized for her project Can Hydrogen Peroxide Inoculate Pond Water to Prevent the Growth of Harmful Algal Blooms and What is the Ideal Dose? She received two awards: 2nd place in Environmental Sciences (sponsored by Con Edison), and The International GENIUS Olympiad Award--giving the recipient the opportunity to be a part of an international competition hosted by Terra Science, to be held at Rochester Institute of Technology in mid-June.
- Derek Ryan was recognized for his project Identification of CRISPR Arrays with Machine Learning; he received 4th place in Computational Bio and Bioinformatics, sponsored by Westchester Academy of Medicine.
