Changes to Transportation Routes for 2024-2025
Next year, we are making changes to the transportation routes. Lonergans is assisting CSP Middle/High with identifying community stops for our students. The logistics operator and dispatcher are reviewing our current routes and using them as points of reference. Once the community stops have been identified, by March 5, I will share the proposed stops with all stakeholders.
Parents will have the opportunity to review the proposed stops and offer suggestions. The window to review the proposed community stops and to offer suggested stops will be from March 6 through March 20. The feedback will then be shared with Lonergans.
There is NO guarantee that the suggestions will be implemented. Please note we will take them into consideration; however, there is no guarantee that the stop will be implemented.
Bus registration for the 2024-2025 school year will begin on April 15. All deposits will be due May 17. As a reminder, seats are available on a first-come, first-serve basis. The sooner you register, the more likely it is that your student will have a seat on the bus. Contracts are not complete until the deposit has been paid.
CSP Approved List of Volunteers/Chaperones - Please Read
In order to be considered to volunteer or chaperone, you must first fill out a response to our CSP Volunteer Interest Form. This is the same form that was sent out multiple times at the beginning of the school year and has been included in the parent newsletters.
If you submitted a response, you do not need to do anything further. Once you submit a response, Ms. O'Brien will follow up with an email letting you know next steps. You will not need to submit a new response each year. Ms. O'Brien will reach out to you to let you know if your commercial background is expiring.
If you have questions, please reach out to Ms. O'Brien at aobrien@mycsp.org

Parents, PTSO Needs Your Help!
CSP Middle/High School's After School Academic Support Program, starting the week of President's Day, is meant to provide further academic support to students who have a demonstrated need to improve their scores on MCAP and MISA tests. In the past, with this program, the school usually provided snacks for the students; however, this year, there's no more additional funding to do this hence why PTSO is reaching out.
Please find below a link to a SignUp Genius to donate snacks and drinks for this program.
If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us at ptso@mycsp.org. Thanks for your time, consideration and support.
Thanks!

Early College Access Program
Chesapeake Science Point and Anne Arundel Community College (AACC) have a partnership for the Early College Access Program (ECAP), allowing students to take college courses while in high school. CSP also has a unique partnership where selected students work toward a college Associate Degree throughout high school, earning 60 college credits through AACC classes and AP credits. Candidates for this very selective program are considered during the spring of students’ eighth grade year at CSP. Administrators, counselors, and teachers review student data and discuss individual student ability to complete college level and AP courses. AACC requires a strict limit of 22 students for this program, making it extremely selective. The selection procedures will begin in February and parent contact will take place once the review process is completed. Students and families do not need to request consideration for this program, all eighth-grade students will be reviewed and considered for the Associate Degree program. Students who are not chosen for the selective Associate Degree program are still eligible to take individual AACC courses through the ECAP program. These opportunities are usually possible in students’ junior and senior years.

U.S. Service Academy Summer Programs
Juniors,
U.S. Senator Chris Van Hollen would like to share information on an exciting opportunity!
Juniors (students in the Class of 2025) who have an interest in learning about opportunities to attend a U.S. Service Academy for college are encouraged to apply to participate in a summer program. Each Academy’s summer program provides a week-long immersion into the academic, military, and social life of that Academy. The Academies are ranked among the top undergraduate public universities in the country.
There is also an opportunity through the U.S. Naval Academy Summer Stem program for 9th-11 grades (see below).
Participation in a summer program is considered a student’s first step in navigating their future to becoming one of our nation’s next generation of leaders. Summer programs introduce one to life at an Academy, where they will experience first-class academic, athletic, and professional training at one of the most prestigious academic institutions in the country
Summer program applications are now being accepted for the U.S. Military Academy (Summer Leaders Experience, West Point, NY), U.S. Naval Academy (Summer Seminar, Annapolis, MD), and U.S. Coast Guard Academy (AIM Summer Program, New London, CT).
