A Message from your Principal, Mrs. Katie Johnson

We hope you and your children enjoy this time to relax, recharge, and create some wonderful memories together. Whether you're planning a staycation, a visit to see family, or some outdoor adventures, make the most of this time for fun and rejuvenation.
School resumes on Tuesday, April 2nd. We look forward to seeing our refreshed and re-energized students back in class!
Wishing you all a happy and relaxing Spring Break!
Sincerely,

The Night with the PRIDE: VIP/Open House/BookFair
Exciting news, Lion families!
This year, we're transforming our traditional events (VIP day and Open House) into a brand new celebration: The Night with the PRIDE! Join Elizabeth Ide on Thursday, May 2nd for an evening showcasing the amazing things happening at our school.
Here's what you can expect:
- Lion Pride on Display: Explore classrooms, participate in fun activities, and witness the school your Lion roars about!
- Scholastic Book Fair: Stock up on exciting reads at the PTO-sponsored Scholastic Book Fair.
- Capture the Memories: Create lasting moments with photo opportunities throughout the evening.
- Food Trucks on Site (tentative): Refuel and socialize with fellow Lion families at the food trucks (availability to be confirmed).
Stay Tuned! We'll share more details and exciting surprises after Spring Break. In the meantime, save the date and get ready for a night of Lion pride!
We hope to see you there!

Thank you from Mr. Kukulski
Thank you to everyone for helping your students make Kid’s Heart Challenge a success! As a school we raised $18, 485. Students had a great time with a bunch of activities reinforcing the messages from this year's characters. Thank you gifts have been ordered and should be delivered in about 2-3 weeks. If you feel that I missed something or there was a mistake please feel free to reach out to me. Thanks again for supporting this great cause!

Fingerprint Requirement
We value, encourage, and welcome volunteers. Our schools are not the same without you. The world is changing, and so are the laws and recommendations around volunteers. Volunteers helping inside the school around school employees just need to go through regular office procedures. If a volunteer is ever alone with children at school or on a field trip, the volunteer must have a full background check, including fingerprinting. These procedures are in alignment with High School District 99. For our K-3 field trips, classroom teachers will notify you if the field trip requires the background check to volunteer. We appreciate your support.
Cougars Reading Club: Reading Incentive
The Game Plan
Our school will be participating in the Cougars Reading Club, a reading incentive program sponsored by the Kane County Cougars baseball team. Your child will have the opportunity to improve their reading skills while earning a free ticket to a Cougars game, enjoying a free hot dog and drink at the game and participating in a parade on the field before the game.
This incentive program will be taking place from now through March. Your child will advance the bases as they commit to reading every night. Your child's classroom teacher will share the specific goal set for their class.
If students earn their free ticket, families will receive a voucher and an order form to purchase additional tickets for family members. There have been two dates that have been blocked for Elizabeth Ide so families and classmates can plan to attend together; Saturday, May 18th at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, May 25th at 6:30 p.m.
We hope this reading challenge will be a grand slam with your support!

Attendance
Please remember to either call the attendance line (630-783-5199). If you are unable to do so and email the classroom teacher, please also include Ms. Sorn in the email about any absences. This will avoid getting a call from the office and it helps if there are substitutes in a class.
It is also important to include Ms. Sorn in any transportation changes.
