Intruder Drill December 7
Staff will know and be able to use communication tools to communicate the identity of an intruder to police and assist police in locating an intruder.
Staff will know and be able to lead students into a safe lock down from a hall passing situation.
Students will know and be able to build and maintain a barricade and/or self-evacuate using tabletop methods.
Students will know how and be able to text updates to parents on a schedule.
Parents were sent information about the drill on November 29. I met with staff members after school on December 1 informing them of the specifics of the drill and expectations during the actual drill. Teachers shared a presentation with students about what to do in the case of an intruder and expectations during a lockdown.
The Park Falls Police Department commented how impressed they were with our communication during the drill and how staff and students handled the situation correctly. After the drill, I sent out a document to all staff asking for comments or suggestions on how we can improve the drill. Below I included links to the presentation shared with staff and students.
Sources of Strength
Sources of Strength is a best practice suicide prevention project that focuses on developing peer social networks that fosters change to unhealthy norms. Empowering peers to find ways to identify and work on ways to help each other, which includes caring adults, is key to preventing suicide, bullying, and substance abuse. Sources of Strength provides multiple sources of support around students so that when times get tough they can use their strengths to get through it. We have been using this resource over the past few years and we are confident that this resource can be helpful to our students in need of support.

- Zeptive measures multiple components of the air including chemical composition to determine when a student is vaping.
- Receive notifications on the phone (text) or computer (email) with a timestamp of when the event occurred. Mobile app is another feature provided by Zeptive.
