SAT/ACT Information
PSAT/SAT/ACT:
Students who plan to attend college need to take the SAT and/or the ACT. Most four-year colleges and some two-year college require an ACT and/or SAT score for admissions consideration. You should always research colleges you are interested in to see what they require for admissions. Although there is not a specific/required time period to take these tests, most students take the PSAT in 10th grade (to practice and prepare for the SAT), the SAT and/or ACT spring semester of their junior year, and another SAT and/or ACT fall semester of their senior year. Although we will provide information and assist with questions, GCA staff will not register you for these tests, therefore you must plan to do that on your own. Below are some links to assist you with this process and provide you further information regarding these exams.
PSAT-The GCA Administration of the PSAT will be Wednesday, OCTOBER 10th. If you registered for this administration, you will be receiving information from our testing department regarding details.
ACT-Upcoming Test Date is December 8th and registration deadline is NOVEMBER 2nd (Deadline for regular admission for OCT 27th test was Sept 28th) Register here: http://www.act.org/

FAQ
What are the graduation requirements?
For a list of graduation requirements click here.
How do credits and promotion work?
Each semester you will take 6 classes worth .5 credit each. This means you can earn 3 credits per semester, 6 credits each year. While students never retake a course they have passed, GCA requires a student to have earned 5 credits to be considered a sophomore, 11 for junior status, 17 to be a senior, and 23 to graduate. For more, watch the video below(Video Note: The 18-19 Freshman Science course is Physics & student’s may or may not have a Fine Arts course as their second elective.)
What should my schedule look like?
Every student should have 4 core classes (math, science, social studies, and language arts) and 2 electives. If you do not have 6 classes, including one of each of this type of core class, email your counselor.
