A Message From the Principal, Mrs. Emig
Dear GUFS Families,
This week was filled with sunshine, sailing on the Clearwater, enjoying Boscobel, hiking and bird-watching in the School Forest. We also had a healthy competition between the Capulets and the Montagues (aka the 8th Graders) and a peaceful tree planting in the courtyard by our 1st Graders. In between all of these amazing events, the children continued with project based learning such as the natural tortoise habitat project led by our 8th graders. We continue to be so proud of our students' efforts and commitment to each other and to their academics.
We are delighted to see that many of our Middle School Students have been vaccinated and that the current COVID rate in our local region is at an all time low (1%). With this hopeful information, we have decided that students in Grades 6-8 will continue to eat outside with their cohort and on Monday, they can begin to have outdoor recess with mixed cohorts. Please remind your children that they can now move freely about the playground, the field and basketball court. However, they must still continue to wear a mask. We believe allowing flexibility during recess will provide greater opportunity for fostering friendships (both new and old).
Enjoy the glorious weekend!
With gratitude,
Allison Emig
Principal
