May 2022
An end and a beginning
Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote, "What lies behind us and what lies before us are small matters compared to what lies within us."
This time of the year, I think this is a very appropriate quote.
For members of the Class of 2022, your future holds college, technical school, the military, or a workforce ready to receive your gifts and talents.
I am excited for Graduation Day on May 28th. For educators, there is nothing better than to look out across that sea of graduation caps, and then watch as students turn tassel from right to left. Hearing the shouts of joy from parents and family that follows that moment is truly special. I congratulate all of you in this year's graduating class.
When that last bell rings on May 26th, think of that as signaling the start of your next chapter. Use what you learned this year to catapult yourself to new academic heights in August. Of course, no one would fault you for taking a little time for yourself this summer. We're fortunate to have beautiful beaches and trails in our backyard. Unplug for a while and use this time to recharge your batteries.
I know many of our teachers and staff use the summer months for personal development opportunities. This has been a challenging time for all of us and we can all use a little "me" time during these next few months.
So, enjoy the summer. And know that as one school year comes to a close, we are working to ensure the next school year brings everyone success.

A reminder for our scholar-athletes. We want to thank Advent Health for their continued support of Flagler Schools. Both screenings are open only to Flagler Schools students going into the 6th - 12th grade, no matter which school they attend. A very important note, though: Registration is required.
