Benefits Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment for employees will be held May 1 - 24, 2024. Please stay tuned for upcoming notices about this important time to make changes to your health enrollment needs for the upcoming year, effective July 1, 2024.
During this period, eligible employees will have the opportunity to:
- update insurance coverage
- enroll or re-enroll in Flexible Spending Account (FSA)
Retiree Celebration
Our annual Retiree celebration will be held May 30th at Frederick High School. Individuals that retired during this Fiscal Year will receive further information about this evening of celebration.
Tuition Reimbursement
Spring coursework completed by June, should be submitted for reimbursement by June 30. For more information, see the Negotiated Agreement for your bargaining unit.

HR Summer Learning Series
HR Summer Learning Series for administrators will be presented again this summer. Our team is currently in the process of planning session dates and topics. We will be providing an in-person and virtual option, so those who may be unable to join in person may have the ability to listen in. More information to come!

Reminders
- The last day for non-tenured teachers to resign without prejudice is May 1st. The last day for tenured teachers is July 15th. Teachers wishing to resign must complete an Employment Status Change Form and return to HREmployeeRelations@fcps.org by the close of business on the appropriate deadline.
- The vast majority of teacher who were excessed or will be returning from leave have been placed in an assignment for the next school year. However, should a teacher wish for a different assignment, the voluntary transfer process may be accessed to apply for a vacant position for which the teacher is certified.

Support Evaluations
With spring finally here, it is time to think about Support Employee Evaluations. Per the FASSE Negotiated Agreement, Support employees shall be evaluated on evaluation forms consistent within their classification by the appropriate first-line supervisor for the purposes to identify and
improve employee performance and by utilizing assessment procedures coupled with recommendations for improvement.
Evaluations must be completed in accordance with the following timelines, unless extenuating circumstances exist:
• 10-month employees by June 1
• 11-month employees by July 1
• 12-month employees by August 1
Evaluations may be deferred when an employee has worked less than half of the school year.

Support Employee Transfers
Support Employees who desire a "Voluntary Lateral Transfer" are required to submit a: Transfer Request Form to the Office of Human Resources Support Talent Acquisition and Relations, between March 1 and May 31 of each year to take effect the following school year. The transfer list will remain in effect for a period of one (1) school year or until exhausted.
- Employees may select up to ten (10) locations on the Transfer Request Form, however, only one transfer will be granted per fiscal year.
- Transfer requests are kept in a database maintained by the Human Resources Support Talent Acquisition and Relations Office.
- The Support Transfer Process is open to all benefited employees who are not on probation or who anticipate being off probation by the time the new transfer list becomes effective (July 1).
- Transfer candidates must have a satisfactory work evaluation. Employees who present twelve (12) months of satisfactory experience by June 30 are eligible to participate in the transfer process.

Recruitment News and Events
The FCPS recruitment team continues to work aggressively to bring talent to FCPS. In addition to the many career fairs we have attended, we have:
- Hosted an all jobs - job fair on March 4, 2024. At the fair, we had 95 total attendees, conducted 48 interviews, and offered 11 open contracts immediately following the fair. Two more job fairs are planned for June in our county high schools. Dates are TBD.
- Continue to host monthly virtual information sessions and in-house initial teacher interview days
- Recruiter, Toya Newman-Piermarini continues to connect with high school students through the Career Coaches hired this year. Toya presents information about what it is like to be a teacher and how they can start working for FCPS right out of high school!
"Let's Get Certified"
We will host an event for all teachers who are currently working for us on a conditional certificate. “Let’s Get Certified” is an opportunity for our teachers who still have requirements to get their questions answered by certification staff as well as visit our college and university direct pay partners to learn more about what these schools have to offer them.
Please use this form to register for the event at Frederick High School on May 2, 2024 from 4:00-6:00 PM.
Maryland Accelerates
Support employees who are interested in becoming an elementary teacher who already have a Bachelor's Degree are invited to consider the Maryland Accelerates Program through Frostburg State University.
This program offers a 13-month teacher residency while taking coursework to earn your Masters of Teaching in Education. Candidates will complete their internship in FCPS while earning a $33,000 living stipend!
