When Frank C. Mars was a young boy, he loved to make candy with his mother. When he got married, he and his wife, Ethel Mars, began to make candy in their own kitchen. The couple created the Mars Candy Company in 1911 and the company has become famous all around the world.
Skittles
Skittles were first made commercially in 1974 by a British company. They were then introduced in North America in 1979 as an import confectionery. Finally in 1982, domestic production of Skittles began in the United States. Today they are made by Wrigley.
In 1974, Skittles were first sold in Europe. Since Skittles were so popular in Europe, Mars Candy Co. imported Skittles to The United States.
