Important Information
Attention Families,
At Eatonville Middle School we have seen an increase in tardiness to classes. While we are increasing incentives, time to get from class to class, supervision as well as bathroom, hallway and classroom structure, we continue to see an increase in tardiness. Socializing, wandering and extended time in the bathroom have all contributed.
The beginning of class is an important time to set expectations and establish learning goals for the day. Tardies cause disruptions, lost learning time and difficulties for teachers in establishing a culture of commitment to learning.
Starting on Monday, families will begin receiving robo calls for every period that your student is tardy to class. If you are wondering about your student's tardies, you can log into Skyward and view them in the attendance tab.
Please talk with your student about the importance of getting to class on time. Our school to family partnership is invaluable in helping our students succeed. Thank you for your support.

EMS 6th grade PE News
Happy Friday you all! This week in our physical education classes we have started an archery unit. I had the opportunity last fall to receive my certification through NASP(National Archery in the Schools Program) taking online classes and spending one day in the field training. I meet the requirements of NASP to become a Basic Archery Instructor. This week the students have learned: Range Set-Up & Safety, Determining Eye Dominance, Making A String Bow Training Aid(students used a 84” piece of paracord), Eleven Steps To Archery Success and Safety Orientation & Teaching a New Archer. We talked about 5 or more whistles meaning an emergency…if students heard this they would stop what they are doing, re-rack the bow and return to the waiting line. If they have an arrow drawn back in their bow, they would need to ease the arrow forward, return it to their ground quiver and bow to rack and the archer returns to the waitling. We also discussed what a “Dry Fire” is and how it can be harmful to the archer and the bow.
All the students learned the eleven steps to archery success using their string bow the first two days of this unit. Yesterday was day three of this unit which was the first day of using our Genesis Compound Bows and our 30” Easton Aluminum Field Tip Arrows. With the lesson yesterday, the students learned more whistle signals..such as one whistle blast = Shoot, two whistle blasts = Get Bow and three whistle blasts = Retrieve Arrows. There were only four archers on the shooting line at a time, each of them had their own target. Myself, Karolyn Seroshek and Emmy Lay, who is Certified Hunter Education Instructor, We worked with each archer individually shooting one arrow. I was the only one that had the arrows during this time. After each archer shot, we discussed how to retrieve their arrows at the target line on the range. Going through the steps to archery success one on one with each student was so rewarding for them and myself as their physical education teacher. It was awesome to watch and share that success moment with them shooting an arrow at the target. I can't wait for next week, when our archery unit continues.
