SLES Family Roar
Week 02/26 - 03/01
Happy Leap Year!
February was fantastic as we celebrated black history month and welcomed the State Department of Education in to see our incredible academic growth! We had two teams participate in the Destination Imagination challenge at South River high school this month. Congratulations to The Radiating Meteorites for coming in at 3rd place and advancing to states! Our marvelous MESA team is getting ready to WIN and WOW as the turn in their projects in the next couple weeks!!
We are looking forward to Read Across America Week and Career Day. We are also getting ready for our upcoming Spirit Night at 3 Brothers on Thursday March 14th from 5pm-8pm. A Principal's Tea will be held on the afternoon of Career Day, March 19 from 11:30-12:00. Swing by if you can! I would love to see you. I will also be inviting you to a virtual "listening tour" that will be scheduled sometime in April. I want to provide as many opportunities as possible for us to communicate and partner together as we work to promote student success!
Respectfully,
Ms. Tammie Rudzinski
A Message from AP Williams
The winter months are difficult as cold and flu season are upon us with the added layer of COVID in the last few years. As parents, you may have questions about when to send your child/ren to school. Of course, we want all students healthy, happy, and ready to learn at school. Here are some helpful hints from the CCPS School Health Services Handbook. Please review the below link to help answer any questions on when to send you child/ren to school.
A message for the Car Rider Crew and Front Office
Front office:
*All early student pick-up's must be before 3:30pm to eliminate the congestion in the front office. We need to maintain a smooth transition into our dismissal time. With your help, this will prevent any disruption and make sure our busses are able to park out front with no issue.
Car Rider Line:
*For the safety of our students, parents, guardians, and staff, please remain in your car during pick up and dismissal. Please remember to drive slowly in and around the car rider area. We have students and staff that we strive to keep safe. Please be courteous and wait your turn for drop off and pick up.
Counselor's Corner
Reminder the 5th grade parent and guardians!!!

If you have questions please reach out to your students teacher.
This month we recognized colleges and universities all across the country for awareness. Here at SLES we focus on building character by teaching character traits through the morning ROAR, community circles in the classroom, and teaching social emotional lessons. Students are encouraged to show the monthly character trait each and every day. At the end of the month a student is selected by their classroom teacher along with the help of their classmates.
Ms Bryant our school counselor, then takes their picture and displays it on the bulletin board outside of the main office. Students receive a Character Counts bracelet along with their picture and comments from their teacher. Be sure to check out the current character counts students next time you visit!
