Vaccination Update for Children Ages 5-11
If you would like your child to be vaccinated, the Connecticut Department of Public Health and Griffin Hospital will setup vaccination clinics for only children ages 5-11 inside of select schools this month from 10:00 AM-2:00 PM:
Saturday, November 13 New Lebanon School
Sunday, November 14 Hamilton Avenue School
Sunday, November 21 Julian Curtiss School
We have also been alerted that Yale New Haven Health healthcare system is scheduling vaccination appointments for children ages 5-11.
Everyone is asked to please wear a face mask when visiting vaccination sites and be prepared to wait 15 minutes after the vaccine is administered. 5-11 year olds should be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian at the time of their vaccination. Pfizer is the only vaccine appropriate for 5-11 year olds at this time. For answers to some frequently asked questions about the COVID-19 vaccine and kids, Yale New Haven Health has a resource page for you to consult.
Some important reminders:
1. You do not need to make an appointment. It is a walk-up clinic. First come, first served.
2. Only 5-11 year olds will be vaccinated. No one younger than 5 or older than 11 will be able to get vaccinated.
3. Please park in the main parking lot (or walk) and come to the main entrance of the school. Students will be accompanied by their parents inside to the small conference room at the front of the building.
4. All forms & paperwork will be filled out on site.
Parents please bring a form of identification if you have one.
5. Other questions can be asked on site or directed to Nurse Mary Keller at Mary_Keller@greenwich.k12.ct.us.
Sábado 13 de noviembre Escuela New Lebanon
Screen and Stay
Governor Lamont announced the rollout of the Screen and Stay initiative for Connecticut schools that choose to participate. Under the initiative, students and staff identified as close contacts to a known COVID-19 case but who are not yet fully vaccinated, will be able to remain in school if they meet certain criteria. We are instituting this initiative at GPS starting Monday. If your child has been exposed to a positive case in school, the school’s nurse will review the Screen and Stay protocol with you to see if they are eligible (Spanish version).
