Message from the Superintendent
April 2024
Dear TPS Community,
Yay…it’s Friday!!!…the day that kick starts our long weekend to Marathon Monday and the April vacation break for students and educators.
We have had an amazing week leading up to today, with many astronomical events beginning with a total solar eclipse, then an official goodbye to Mr. Richard Pelletier, our Director of Student Services and Special Education for the last 13 years here in TPS. At the Wed. April 10, 2024 School Committee meeting, we announced two major administrative changes as well. Congratulations to Ms. Candace Tharrett will step up as Acting Director of Student Services and Special Education on May 1st, and to Ms. Nancy Milligan who was appointed to be the next Assistant Superintendent of Schools for Tewksbury, beginning on July 1, 2024. And yes, we also announced the official last day of school as Friday, June 14, 2024 (an early release day).
I want to take a moment to acknowledge the importance of this time for all of us. It's a chance to step away from our usual routines and take a well-deserved break to reset and recharge after three quarters of the school year is behind us… but far from over.
For students, this vacation offers an opportunity to relax and unwind after months of hard work, and regroup as we head into our own marathon of assessments and events that you have trained for all year. For parents and guardians, this is a moment to enjoy quality time with your children, while preparing them for their end-of-year in their particular grade level. So, whether you're traveling or staying close to home, I encourage you to embrace this time to connect and reflect.
For educators and staff, April vacation is an opportunity to take a breather and come back refreshed and ready to guide our students through the final mile of the school year. Thank you for all your efforts as their coach and trainer thus far.
Please see the many updates and events below in this newsletter. Here’s to a safe, restful, and rejuvenating long weekend and April vacation! Go Boston Marathon runners!
Sincerely,
Brenda Theriault-Regan

We are delighted to announce that kindergarten registrations for the Tewksbury Public Schools will be open from January 16, 2024 through April 26, 2024. To streamline the process families are required to complete online registration paperwork and upload necessary documents, including: Child's birth certificate, current mortgage statement / lease, current utility bill, updated physical and immunization record for the child and parent's photo identification (current driver's license). All this information is mandatory for all families, even if you have previously registered another child. During the registration appointment, you will have the opportunity to select a kindergarten screening appointment date, which will be in May. To provide essential information and guidance, an informational video will be available on our website and local cable access channel starting January 2, 2024. On this date, families can also begin scheduling virtual kindergarten registration appointments, unless an in-person meeting is requested. We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring a smooth registration process for your child's exciting educational journey with Tewksbury Public Schools.
