GRE Staff Newsletter
For the week of November 25, 2019
Dear Team,
It's hard to believe that in two days we will be arriving at Thanksgiving Break. With each passing year I feel like time speeds up. As I shared earlier, Thanksgiving is probably my favorite holiday. I love the food, the family, the chance to catch our breath. I love most of all though, the chance to think about all I am thankful for. With this reflection I often wonder if I've done a good enough job thanking the people in my life who have made the last year better just by being in it. When I think about whether or not I've truly communicated how thankful I am for those people I often find that maybe I didn't say it enough. So...
I'm so thankful for each and every one of you. I see you in the wee hours of morning or past dinner time. I see you fretting about getting all your work done. Worrying about a student who didn't make their growth target and wondering what else you need to do (even though in many cases, it's beyond what you can do). The way you worry about a student who doesn't have the money on their lunch account they need. Wondering if their is a way to speed up the cleaning process so that you can better support our students. The guilt over missing something for your own children, spouses or animals or the million other things you have on your plate. I see you.
So thank you. On behalf of our 539 (soon to add a few more) students, I want you to know, we are so grateful for you. For the journey that has led you to be a part of our GRE Family, we are so grateful you are here. For me personally, thank you for leaving a footprint on my heart that has made me a better parent, friend, colleague and leader. Please join us, in your BW gear and jeans, on Tuesday at 8:15 in the STEM Hub for a breakfast treat.
Thanks for all you do!
Kate
Winter Benchmarking...Keep Going! You got this!
News to Share
1. Click here to read through the PAC minutes. We revisited lunch room issues and problem solved how to best support our students. When students come back to school on December 3rd we will be adjusting our lunch room a bit. One change will be to have our lunch tables spread out throughout the entire cafeteria space. We believe that this will reduce the noise level. We will now be lining up in the hallway in front of the gym. Katie and I will be at lunches on Tuesday, December 3rd to assist with this new routine but please discuss it with your students prior to lunch on the 3rd. See me or a member of PAC if you have questions or concerns.
2. Eagle Ed will be this Tuesday from 2:30-2:30. The schedule for Eagle Ed has been added to the Building Schedule on its own Eagle Ed. tab. Click here to access it. Make sure that you have students pack up prior to Eagle Ed and leave their things in your classroom.
3. Don't forget insurance enrollment closes at midnight tonight. If you have not yet completed it, be sure to access it tonight before midnight!!
4. We will kick off December with Waiver Day. Hours for Waiver Day are 8:15-3:45. Click here to see the DRAFT Agenda for Waiver Day. You will see that agendas for different areas are included on the top of the agenda.
5. A reminder that there are no Intervention groups this Monday and Tuesday. They will be pushing in to K-2 classrooms to complete DIBELS testing. Thank you for your understanding!
6. Big Walnut is looking to feature staff again on their Social Media Accounts. GRE will have three dates where a staff member will be featured. Especially if you are new to BW this is a great opportunity for you! Big Walnut is such a close community and they love learning about the adults their children spend their days with. Please consider completing the following information and sending it, along with a photos, to Samantha at socialmedia@bwls.net.
