Swift - Slaybaugh Complex
Week of April 7, 2024
Principal's Message
Dear Swift-Slaybaugh Families,
I hope that everyone had a safe, fun, and relaxing spring break. I have to say, the students came back very well behaved and got right back on track! In order to do another periodic check in on our S.O.A.R. expectations, we are holding our second and final S.O.A.R. Contest for the year. It began on Monday and it will continue through Friday, April 19th. Our entire staff will be on the lookout for students who are demonstrating safety, ownership, accountability, and respect. Once again, any student who receives all four tickets will be invited to an upcoming S.O.A.R. Party!
A big thank you to our Parents' Club for providing our second grade students with Aviation STEM lessons on Thursday. These lessons were provided to prepare the students for their upcoming field trips to the Naval Aviation Museum. The lessons were very interactive and informative and the students enjoyed them and learned a lot.
I hope that everyone has an excellent weekend and enjoys the spring weather that seems to have finally arrived! Take care.
Sincerely,
Rachel Casumpang
Principal
STUDENT ACHIEVEMENT
March Madness Reading Challenge
Renaissance is happy to announce the two winning classrooms of the March Madness Reading Challenge are Mrs. Ogborn and Mrs. Lee! Renaissance will be reaching out to them to schedule their pizza parties!
Library Star Students of the Month
Eric Hillesheim and Diya Rajesh were named Swift Library's Star Students of the Month for March. Both students showed exemplary library participation and positive attitudes. They received library prize packages and certificates for their star performance.
GT students hosted an open house to share their electricity projects with their parents and the third grade. The presentations featured a variety of house styles, a pet daycare, mall and even a Home Alone house. Students engineered a structure of themed rooms furnished with recycled materials and plenty of creativity. They wired each room with working lights controlled by a paperclip switch. Their ingenuity and dedication to this project was outstanding! Third grade visitors had the opportunity to try a hands-on bulb lighting challenge during their visit.
CLIMATE & CULTURE
Such a refreshing treat! A huge thank you to our parents club!
