We Need Your Feedback
Parents across Illinois once again have an opportunity to participate in the annual statewide Illinois 5Essentials Survey. This survey is designed to generate a detailed picture of your child’s school as it relates to the important elements of school effectiveness.
On behalf of the Illinois State Board of Education, the Illinois 5Essentials Survey is administered online by the University of Chicago. All survey responses will be kept confidential. The state will provide survey results for individual schools only if a school has at least 20 percent of parents take the survey. If you have children attending more than one school, we ask that you complete the survey for each school.
To take this short survey:
1. Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/
2. Type and select “Dupage” as "County." (The county is the location of the school district's main office.)
3. Type your school's name into the "School" field and select your school.
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey identifies five indicators that can lead to important student outcomes, including test score gains. Research has shown that schools strong on these indicators are ten times more likely to improve student learning. The five indicators that effect school success are effective leaders, collaborative teachers, involved families, supportive environments, and ambitious instruction.
Thank you for your feedback.

Cold Weather Reminders
Hats, scarves, gloves, and boots all help to keep our students warm as they arrive and leave school each day. As a reminder, students will participate in outdoor recess when the conditions allow. The temperature and/or wind chill must be greater than 5 degrees and we also review the condition of the blacktop areas for ice, etc. to ensure that students can safely play outdoors on that day. Please keep in mind that students should have snow pants and boots to play in the snow on days we have outdoor recess. Thank you for helping to make sure that students have what they need for the upcoming cold winter days.
E-Learning Days
You have likely received email communication from District 204 regarding E-Learning Days as a replacement to the traditional Snow Days. The following has been posted on our district website regarding this change:
- The State of Illinois has made available the option for school districts to hold e-learning days instead of canceling school when there is severe weather. Our district may use this option, if needed, starting this winter. This new approach provides the opportunity to have a continuum of instruction that models for students that learning can happen anywhere and anytime. It also helps students further develop the technical and organizational skills necessary to work independently. If severe weather would prevent our schools from opening, we will announce an e-learning day the same way we have informed you in the past of weather related school closings. The announcement will be made by 6 am and posted first on Twitter (@ipsd204) and at www.ipsd.org. We will also make a Connect ED phone call to alert you of the information
Please stay tuned for more information from your child’s classroom teacher regarding E-Learning Days.
