RAM is the working memory in a PC. As you run programs on your computer, it uses RAM to store data of running programs. When multitasking on your computer and running multiple programs at one time, more RAM is used. RAM storage is measured in megabytes (MB) and gigabytes (GB). The speed of ram is measured in megahertz (MHz). More RAM allows you to run bigger programs and it also allows programs to be run faster. More RAM may be required if you run multiple programs or very complex programs. Although the overall speed of your computer mainly depends on the processor, RAM also plays a big role in the speed of your computer. RAM also allows you to run more graphic-intense programs such as videos, pictures, games, etc.
