District Mission Statment
Empower all students to be lifetime learners who are responsible, productive citizens in a changing, global society.
Sparta Community,
Our students and staff are nearly a month into the school year. All three buildings have had exceptional beginnings. From the once-in-a-lifetime solar eclipse viewing to expanded technology opportunities, our focus is always to provide learning experiences to all students.
As a district we are always looking to improve our communication with parents, guardians and our community. To do this we are continuing our digital newsletters that will be available via email, social media and our school website, www.sparta.k12.mo.us. I encourage everyone to utilize the format that works best for them. If you are a parent and/or guardian and have not received email alerts, please check your parent portal to ensure an accurate email address is active in our system. You may also contact your child’s building level office to confirm a working address.
The Sparta R-III school district strives to maintain a collaborative atmosphere while educating our students. We are always eager to discuss the progress of students. Please do not hesitate to communicate with teachers or staff via email or through the appropriate building level office. We look forward to working together to provide opportunities for success.
Mr. Rocky Valentine

CROSS COUNTRY TEAM
The high school girls team finished 2nd at the Willow Springs meet. Medal winners were Michaela House, Kimber Rains and Brooke Wiggins.
At the Monett cross country meet, the high school girls team took 2nd place. Medal winners were Jeremiah Ellison, Michaela House, Kimber Rains, Brooke Wiggins and Hannah Hudson.
The team is performing very well at this early point in the season. We are already setting new PRs (personal records) and running great races with two of the toughest courses of the season under our belts.
SPARTA LADY TROJANS VOLLEYBALL
The 2017 Sparta Lady Trojan volleyball season is well underway. The program has experienced a lot of change this year with a whole new lineup. With several seniors graduating last year, it left many holes to fill in the varsity lineup. We have started off the season with some challenges and will continue to face some of those. If you have seen us play, you recognize we have little height resulting in very few power hitters and infrequent blocks. We recognize this as our weakness and are working hard at doing what we do best -- being scrappy. In the short time that we have been on the court, we have made adjustments to the lineup to improve. We are working well as a team and are encouraged to see how the season unfolds.
The JV team has also worked hard at finding the right balance and positions as we have transitioned several of those players to the varsity level. We are continuing to find strengths in those girls and see improvement each day. We also have a C team that is working hard to improve on their volleyball knowledge and skills with each practice.
Our varsity record is currently 4-5-2. Our schedule is packed the next few weeks as we close the season. Come out and support Lady Trojan volleyball at one of our upcoming games.
Senior night is October 2nd and our Lady Trojan Tournament is October 7th!

7th-8th GRADE BOYS BASKETBALL
We have 18 boys as part of our middle school basketball team. The A team currently has a record of 0-4 but are getting better. The B team record is 3-1. We are extremely young this year with the majority of our team being 7th graders. Our future is bright.
