Hello all!
The next Parenting Class we are offering is May 20th and will focus on Boys to Men. It will be held from 7:00pm- 8:30pm at the Marshall Women’s Center. We have an excellent panel lined up and will encourage questions and conversation. Please forward to anyone you feel may benefit. We would love to have a large crowd! All parents struggle at times and it’s important for them to see that they aren’t alone. All classes are free!
(Girl Talk was cancelled due to snow and has been rescheduled for May 26.)
Please and thank you!

SPD News
Preschool and Pre-K have been refreshing themselves about all of our movements that we have learned this year. We know how to run, gallop, jump, and slide. We have been learning how to leap and continuing to work on skipping as well. We are super SPD movers!
Guess who’s learning hockey skills? 1st grade is! We are learning how to move an object with an implement. This skill helps children to learn how to control an object while using a piece of equipment. We are making a body book that will include the body systems that we have learned this year.
4th grade just finished a unit on the Circulatory System and volleyball. We are beginning a unit on soccer and the Muscular System.
7th grade has just finished a volleyball unit. We have started a new unit on the 5 Components of Fitness. These are concepts that we will be using for the rest of our lives. We are working on using teamwork and sportsmanship in all aspects of sports and our lives.
Library News
Kindergarten learned about problem and solution in a story by listening to The Kissing Hand.
1st grade learned about comparing and contrasting character traits by reading about characters like “David” in the book No David and “Harry” in Harry the Dirty Dog.
2nd grade has started on an exciting project call “2nd Grade Genius Hour” where they are researching a personal topic and presenting their research in slideshow form.
3rd and 4th grade have been working on “Bio Poems”. The poems are about the student’s thoughts, fears, and dreams. The children have been working very hard on these.
5th grade has been working on “Selfie Poems”. The 5th grade took “selfies” and then wrote poems based on their likes and dislikes.
Middle school finished our final week of research for “Passion Projects”. I am so excited to see the final products. These projects have combined all of the skills that we have learned this year in library class. Look for examples of projects next week!
From Library/Computer Lab to Learning Commons Renovation - Summer 2015
- Our library and computer lab are becoming a learning commons.
- The design and implementation of the new library will transform our traditional library and computer lab spaces into one space that fosters learning and communication, a space for what students need now and what the school could envision for the future.
- Not only will the new space embrace the concept of a learning commons, it also will thoughtfully merge the best of the physical and digital worlds, including paper books and physical artifacts, as well as flexible furniture and an open environment. Digital content encourages students to explore, play and delve deeper into subjects they may not otherwise experience.
Preliminary Media Center/Learning Commons Floor Plan
- This plan will be enhanced and shared here in a few weeks. Thanks guys!
