Prestwick LEarns
Just this week students were allowed to take a glance into authentic career choices. Investigating Career students successfully concluded their exploration of the STEM career cluster by exploring career opportunities in Advanced Manufacturing. Students used patterns, sketches, and the coordinate systems to configure mini rocking chair prototypes. Their work speaks for itself. #talented Watch out world here they come!

Staff Spotlight
This week our spotlight is on one of our new teachers at Prestwick, Ms. San Miguel. Ms. San Miguel is new to the kindergarten team and we are grateful to have her. Here is what she has to say about her year so far,” Hi, My name is Mrs. San Miguel! I am so excited to be in the spotlight this week!!! I am a Kindergarten teacher here at Prestwick and I am loving every minute of it! My goal as a teacher is to ensure that I create a classroom of lifelong learners. I want to make learning fun yet meaningful. One thing I always tell my students is that "can't" is not a word in our classroom! We try our best and never give up!!!
Now, for the fun stuff! Here is a little info about me. My husband and I just moved into our new house last weekend! Our evenings have been filled with unpacking and getting things organized. We have a tiny teacup yorkie, Sophie and she is so much fun! For fun, I like to go shopping, go to the movies and hang out with my family. Also, I am obsessed with Christmas and my favorite movie ever is Elf. I watch it all year round and have been known to watch it many times in a row! I am looking forward to a wonderful school year with my Prestwick famiLE!!!”

Do you have any costumes or vintage clothing from historic time periods, old papers or magazines, photos, or artifacts that you are willing to part with?
Mrs. Diaz is collecting historical items to create hands on learning trunks for our students. These trunks are part of a grant 8th grade is working on. We would love to have robust trunks which allow students to experience the historical perspective first hand. We are looking for items to fill our trunks from the following time periods:
Colonial or American Revolution (1600-1700s)
Civil War/Reconstruction (late 1800’s)
WWII/Holocaust
Anything you can offer is greatly appreciated. Please consider donating in the front office or contact Mrs. Diaz at andreadiaz@leisd.ws
