From the Principal
Dear Copeland Families,
Happy New Year! It has been great to have our building filled with the sound of laughter from your wonderful children again! I hope you all had a very restful break from school.
We are busy in the month of January. Our Pennies for Patients kicks off on January 14th. Students are encouraged to bring in change and bills to support cancer research. The class that raises the most money will earn an Olive Garden pasta party! Next Tuesday, January 15th, we will have spirit night at Marco’s Pizza for second grade, although all are encouraged to support us. Please also note we will be hosting an event in our cafeteria on Thursday, January 17th. As a result, our Fifth graders and Third graders will be eating lunch in their classrooms. We will not be able to host lunch visitors for those classes on that day. We appreciate your understanding.
All items from our lost and found have been on the stage all week. Hopefully, your child has been able to find and claim items that have been lost. All items not claimed will be donated to a local charity on January 11th at the end of the school day.
We will have a spirit night on Jan. 16th from 5:00 – 8:00 at Chick Fil A in Towne Lake hosted by our 1st grade teachers. There will be no school on Monday, January 21st in observance of Martin Luther King Day. Our next dress up day will be January 23rd – Crazy Hair Day.
Thank you for your cooperation in abiding by our drop off and pick up times. Students enter our building at 7:45 each day and cannot be left unattended on our front porch before that time. We are fortunate to have Club Rewind daycare services at our school. Students enrolled in that program can be dropped off starting at 6:30. All students must be picked up by 3:40 in the afternoon each day unless enrolled in Club Rewind or are attending after school activities supervised by one of our staff. Please remember we cannot accept transportation changes after 2:30. Student safety is a top priority for us at Copeland.
Thanks so much, as always, for your support of Copeland. We are looking forward to a wonderful 2019!

Thank you for the donations of materials for the art classroom. I am once again in need of newspapers and paper tubes.

A note from the nurse:
Per our district policy, all medication must be transported to and from school by an adult and signed in at the clinic. All medication must also be in its original, unopened and unexpired container. Please do not send medication to school with your student. Thank you for helping to keep our students safe!
