PRINCIPAL'S CORNER
Dear Students, Faculty, and Parents,
I hope that everyone had a restful, but also fun, fall break!
I along with some of our Admin Team and Department Heads, used this fall break to visit the beautiful country of South Korea. During the trip, we visited the five top schools in Korea to learn from their best practices.
We would like to thank Gyeonggi Science High School, Koren International School - Jeju, YoungHoon International Elemetary School, YoungHoon Internationa Middle School, and Korea Foreign School very much for their hospitality. We are very impressed with the quality of these schools. We will never forget their warm welcome.
It was amazing to see that Gyeonggi Science School even had two observataries and a special research center costing $25 million.
We presented our school to prospective families and we also took time to visit with the families of our Korean students currently attending FSA. Our admin team members and department chairs had an amazing time with the lovely parents of our wonderful Korean students in Seoul, South Korea. We love our families and look forward to many more trips like this in the future!
open house; dec. 8th
We will have an Open House on Sunday, December 8th from 1:00pm - 3:00pm! There is more information to come, but be sure to save the date! We plan to work with student ambassadors who will be responsible for giving tours of the school as well on that day to prospective families.

RECAP on VOLLEYBALL SENIOR NIGHT & Middle School Volleyball Season Ends with Big improvements
A Message from Coach Alan on the MS Season:
Hi everyone. I wanted to give everyone a quick end of season update.
We finished the season with 2 match wins vs 14 losses. Anyone who has watched this team knows the stats don't give the real picture, so let me give you the behind the scenes of what we saw.
Remember the first game of the season? Most of the girls couldn't get a serve over the net. Passes typically went over on the first touch and there were no hits. By the middle of the season most everyone could serve over the net and we were able to get three touches sometimes. The end of the season we saw every player was capable of getting a serve over the net. We were usually able to get at least two touches, if not three, and we had a few hits too! We saw the girls come together as a team going from sitting quietly on the bus, to having sing-a-longs. Our favorite part was seeing the smiles and them learn to enjoy the game, gain leadership skills and learn teamwork. We were very proud of the improvement the girls showed over the course of the season.
As we transition into the offseason we would like to encourage all to continue to play volleyball, basketball or any other activity to keep them motivated to return next season. All sports and/or athletic activities build on one another to help learn eye-hand coordination, strength and how to move in general.
We look forward to seeing everyone around campus and hopefully next year for volleyball as well. Open gyms for volleyball begin in July so watch for notifications about this. Go Mustangs!!!
FSA Cross Country Team Finishes Fall Break with 5th Meet of the Season; Heads to MS Championship this weekend
The FSA cross country team rounded out the season with the final meet on October 5th. The team had a steady showing for the season at all levels.
Members in both junior varsity and varsity have definitely go the mustang name out there. The combined team had a total of 52 students from 5th grade to 12th grade.
Coach Tarik Uduk told Mustang News “ It shows great dedication for all of these students to show up to practice so early in the morning to run and become better athletes”. Students trained before school starting at 6:30am. For the meets they had to endure the hot and sunny days. FSA runners also stood out for their true sportsmanship by encouraging other teams at the meet and serving them water at the finish line. Coach Tarik said he is very proud of them for showing up and doing their best. In the final meet there were Mustangs placing in the top 10 in divisions with 50+ runners.

Professional Speaker Series; Sean Reilly
Sean Reilly is a licensed therapist and he shared with students the importance of mental health awareness. He spoke to them about good anxiety vs bad anxiety. Mr. Reilly urged students to be aware of their surroundings, especially the people who are in it. Sharing with them that support, kindness and “being a friend” can make such a huge difference. He went on to share with students that there are four things they can do to have an impact on others around them. Make connections with each other, Ask about each other, Listen to each other and finally help lead them to a better situation. By practicing these simple steps you will be an agent of change and help in making the CALL - which means that you can help someone who might have too much going on, cope better.

Home Visits; A Great Activity for Your Student, No Matter Their Grade Level!
Here is some feedback from our parents:
- “Early in the school year, a group of teachers took the time to come to our home to meet us and discuss the school program with us. That event brought us back to the time in which schooling was a true partnership between parent and teacher and reaffirmed in our minds that FSA truly cares about the development of our children”
- “We even had two teachers visit us at our home. They were a pleasure to meet and we could clearly see how much they enjoy teaching students.”
- “Thank you very much for your visit and the chocolates yesterday. We enjoyed having you over very much. I also want to thank you for turning math from the most complicated and somewhat scary subject into one of our most favorites.”
- “We all enjoyed your visit last night to our home. It was such a pleasure to informally get to know both of you. My son thought it was really cool that two teachers came to his house. He talked about it the whole way to school this morning in carpool. Personally, I admire the dedication you both have for your jobs. It makes a big difference in a student’s attitude toward school. Your visit left no doubt in my mind that FSA was the right decision for my son.”
- “I just wanted to write on behalf of my husband and I and thank you for visiting our child. He loved having you both come and visit. We appreciate the level of caring and attention that you have consistently shown our family. It is rare to see such a dedication from teachers for their jobs. We can tell that you love teaching and you care for our children. Thank you for visiting our child when he was not feeling well.”
How can I schedule a home visit?
Very simple.
To schedule an elementary school home visit: Simply email junal@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Ms. Unal will be in touch to confirm final details.
To schedule a middle or high school school home visit: Simply email sduman@fultonscienceacademy.org with some suggested dates/times, as well as your students' name(s) and homeroom assignments. Mr. Duman will be in touch to confirm final details.
Depending on our teacher’s availability, at least two teachers will be together to visit our students and parents at their homes. The best times to schedule a home visit are weekdays after 5:00 pm, and anytime during the weekends, except Sunday mornings. For any questions you have about this program, send an e-mail to homevisit@fultonscienceacademy.org
