Mount Kenya is the second highest peak in Africa being 5,199m tall the mountain is surrounded by 12 remnant glaciers. Making it an important water tower for the country providing 50% of its water and the 70% of its hydroelectric power in Kenya. Mount Kenya is an ancient extinct volcano being one of the most impressive landscapes in East Africa.
Wild Life
Lying within the traditional migrating rote of the African elephant population Mount Kenya is home to the elephants, mole rat, tree hyrax, white tailed mongoose, and many more. With rarely seen animals such as the leopard, bongo, rhino. And over 130 bird species recorded in Mount Kenya its a hotel for all these animals.
