Norfolk Area Financial Aid Presentation
We highly recommend students and parents to attend this presentation even if you have applied for financial aid before. There are several changes with the FAFSA for next year. Students will be able to complete the FAFSA starting October 1st. You will use your 2015 income tax information for this year's FAFSA and next year's FAFSA!
Financial Aid Program Scholarship
Students who attend an EducationQuest Financial Aid Program (FAP) will be eligible to win one of three $500 scholarships.
EducationQuest will randomly select the three student winners on or around February 1, 2016.
To be eligible, a student must:
- be a U.S. citizen or legal resident
- be a junior or senior attending a Nebraska high school
- attend an EducationQuest Financial Aid Program before February 1, 2016 (parents/guardians may attend on their student’s behalf)
- complete an online scholarship entry form (details provided at the FAP)
- attend a non-profit college in Nebraska (public or private)

UNK Cooperating Schools Scholarships
Norfolk Senior High has been selected to give one UNK Cooperating Schools Scholarship to a graduating high school senior planning to attend UNK. The scholarship entitles a full time student to receive either $375 or $750 per semester of tuition. Students should be in the upper 30% of their graduating class, achieve a minimum ACT composite score of 23, and must be admitted to UNK by March 1st. To apply students should complete the form below by January 26th at 4:00 pm. NHS staff members will then select one student to receive the scholarship after reviewing the applications.
Elks Past Exalted Ruler Scholarship
The 2016 Most Valuable Student scholarship contest is open to any high school senior who is a US Citizen. Applicants will be judged on scholarship, leadership, and financial need. The basic emphasis will be on need.
Amounts: Two (one boy and one girl) $1,100.00 first place
Two (one boy and one girl) $800.00 second place
Two (one boy and one girl) $600.00 third place

UNL General Scholarship Application
The deadline to apply for priority admission and general scholarships at the University of Nebraska Lincoln is January 15th. Go to http://www.unl.edu/apply-now/ to apply. Make sure you complete the personal statement.
Chadron State College Scholarships
Board of Trustees Scholarship and Governor's Opportunity Award no longer require a separate application. Students apply for these scholarships when they apply for admission to Chadron State College by January 15th.
General Scholarship Deadline: January 15th
Students need to submit only one application for all CSC Scholarships, except for the following: Agriculture, Athletics, Art, Social Sciences and Theatre. Please review the Scholarship Listing for more details regarding the scholarships available. Applications postmarked after the deadline will be considered in the second round of awarding.
Peru State College
Board of Trustees Scholarship and Governor's Opportunity Award no longer require a separate application. Students apply for these scholarships when they apply for admission to Peru State College by January 15th.
Wayne State College Art and Design Program Scholarships
WSC's Art and Design programs provide majors in K-12 Art Education, Graphic Design, and Studio Art. Every year the department grants scholarships to qualified incoming freshman art and design students. For more information and to fill out/submit an Art & Design Scholarship application please visit:

L. "Ron" Letson Acacia Leadership Scholarship
The Acacia Leadership Scholarhsip is a single-year scholarship awarded to 3 (1-$1,000 and 2-$500) incoming male freshmen at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln who display excellence in academics, motivation for personal success with an interest in developing and applying leadership skills. To apply students should go to the following website for an online application:

Susan T. Buffet Scholarship
This is the one we have been waiting for! Every student meeting the following criteria should apply for a Susan Thompson Buffet Scholarship. There are many of these scholarships given out each year.
Student Eligibility
To be considered for a scholarship from The Susan T. Buffett Foundation, a student must:
- Be a resident of Nebraska
- Graduate from a Nebraska high school or earn a Nebraska GED
- Achieve at least a 2.5 cumulative unweighted GPA in high school
- 2.5 on a 4 point scale
- 80 on a 100 point scale
- Be a first-time freshman when entering college
- Students obtaining dual enrollment credits in high school are still eligible to apply
- Plan to attend any of the following Nebraska public institutions:
- Nebraska Community Colleges - Central, Metropolitan, Mid-Plains, Northeast, Southeast, or Western Nebraska;
- Nebraska State College System - Chadron State, Peru State, Wayne State; or
- University of Nebraska - NCTA, UNK, UNL, UNMC, or UNO
- Be in need of financial assistance in order to attend school as determined by completing the FAFSA.
- Note: Students do not need to be Pell Grant eligible to qualify
- Students with an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) below $15,000 are encouraged to apply

Northeast Community College Scholarships
All scholarship applications require a current application for admission on file at Northeast Community College.
1. The Online Scholarship Application can be accessed through www.northeast.edu/scholarships. Select "Online Scholarship Application". Log in as a first time user to create an account to complete the scholarship application online. That single application will be used to consider students for all Northeast scholarships except the ones list below. All students planning considering NECC should complete this scholarship application. Due February 1st.
2. Deans Scholarship ($500/year) - The Dean’s Scholarship is a $500 scholarship awarded to a student starting college in the fall term who graduated from high school the previous May. This scholarship is awarded by the high school and can be based upon local criteria along with the following minimum Northeast Community College requirements:
- Be a current high school student with an expected graduation during the 2015-2016 academic school year from a high school within the Northeast Community College 20-county service area
- Be a current resident of Nebraska
- Enroll as a full-time, degree seeking student for the fall term following graduation from high school
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 2.0 and meet the Northeast Financial Aid Standards of Satisfactory Academic Progress during each semester.
3. Lee D. Rawhouser
Qualifications:
- Must be a Northeast Community College student in any regular course of study
- Must be maintaining a GPA of 2.0 or above
- Must be of good moral character
- Must show financial need
4. Board of Governor's Merit Scholarship (full tuition)
The Board of Governors Merit Scholarship is based on academic achievement as demonstrated on the students ACT or COMPASS test scores. The award is for full tuition for a maximum of four consecutive academic semesters (fall & spring terms only) for a student starting college in the fall term and who graduated from high school the previous May.
Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the Board of Governors Scholarship Application and Admissions Applications prior to February 1, 2016.
- Be a current high school student with an expected graduation date during the 2015-2016 academic school year from a high school within the Northeast Community College service area.
- Be a current resident of Nebraska.
- Achieve an ACT composite test score of 23 or higher, or a minimum of the following on the COMPASS Test: College Algebra 56; Reading 91; Writing 92
- Enroll as a full-time degree-seeking student at Northeast Community College for the fall term following graduation from high school.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.50 and meet the financial aid standards of satisfactory academic progress each semester.
You must complete theBoard of Governors/President's Early Entry Scholarship Application (also available in the counseling center) to apply for the Board of Governor's Scholarship. Please submit completed applications to Northeast Community College Financial Aid Office by February 1, 2016.
5. President's Early Entry (one-half tuition)
The President’s Scholarship is based on academic achievement and completion of at least one Northeast college credit class while in high school. The award is for one-half tuition over four consecutive academic semesters (fall & spring terms only) for a student starting college in the fall term and who graduated from high school the previous May.
Successful candidates must meet the following criteria:
- Complete the President’s Scholarship Application and Admissions Applications prior to February 1, 2016.
- Be a current high school student with an expected high school graduation date during the 2015-2016 academic school year from a school within the Northeast Community College Service Area.
- Be a current resident of Nebraska.
- Achieve an ACT Composite test score of 18 or higher, or a minimum of the following on the COMPASS Test: Algebra 39; Reading 80; Writing 74.
- Complete at least one Northeast Community College credit class prior to graduation from high school with an accumulated GPA of 3.0 or higher for all college classes.
- Enroll as a full-time degree-seeking student at Northeast Community College for the fall term following graduation from high school.
- Maintain a cumulative GPA of 3.25 and meet the financial aid standards of satisfactory academic progress each semester.
You must complete the Board of Governors/President's Early Entry Scholarship Application (also available in the counseling center) to apply for the President's Scholarship for Early Entry Students. Please submit completed applications to Northeast Community College Financial Aid Office by February 1, 2016.
6. McIntosh/Davis-Chambers Scholarship
Qualifications:
- Must be an academically promising student that is active in school or community
- Must be enrolled full-time and plan to transfer to a 4-year public NE college or university
- Must be a graduate of a NE high school or have earned a G.E.D.
- Must be a U.S. citizen and a NE resident
- Must submit the FAFSA and show financial need

UNK General Scholarship Application
The deadline to apply for admission and general scholarships at the University of Nebraska Kearney is February 1st. Go to http://www.unk.edu/admissions/undergraduate/ to apply.
UNO General Scholarship
The deadline to apply for admission and general scholarships at the University of Nebraska Omaha is February 1st. Go to https://apply.unomaha.edu/ to apply.
Nebraska Society of Professional Engineers
The NSPE is offering several scholarships to graduating high school seniors that plan on attending an engineering program next year. The following scholarships are available:
- 2 State Annual $1500 Scholarships
- 1 Northeast Chapter Annual $1000 Scholarship
Applications are due February 1st.
CHI Health 2016 Scholarship Program
We are pleased to announce that CHI Health will once again provide 12 - $1,500 non-renewable scholarships to Nebraska and/or Iowa high school seniors graduating May 2016.The goal of this program is to provide scholarship assistance to eligible students preparing for a career in the healthcare industry.
Eligibility
1) NE or IA high school seniors graduating May 2016 with intent to pursue a post-secondary degree in a health care field (excluding Dentistry and Veterinary Science fields).
2) Applicants must have applied to, and plan to enroll in an accredited college/university.
3) Applicants must have and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 non-weighted scale.

Scholarship Application
The 2016 Scholarship Application is a writable PDF and needs to be completed on a computer. The application deadline is Monday, February 8, 2016.
Applicant Appraisal Form
The student is to print and give the Applicant Appraisal Form to one high school administrator, high school guidance counselor or teacher to complete. (No family members can complete this form.
High School Transcript
An official high school transcript with seal is required. High schools may mail them directly or transcripts that are sealed in an envelope with signature across the flap may be included in the student’s application packet.

Hy-Vee Foundation Scholarship
The Hy-Vee Foundation is proud to award up to 40 - $1,000 scholarships to students seeking a four-year degree at any baccalaureate degree-granting college in the United States. The scholarship is for students currently working at Hy-Vee or children of employees at Hy-Vee. Click on the links below for more information and the application.
