Friday's Thoughts
November 6, 2015
"Dear Lord,
Be good to me. The sea is so wide and my boat is so small."
-Marian Edelman
I reread this small prayer today in my journal that I kept during my principal induction classes my first year as principal. I chuckled when I reread this because I would be willing to bet we all feel this way both at school and in life so many days. I just want you to know how much I appreciate what you do each day. As I visited classes yesterday, I was reminded at just how good you all are! I am thankful that we have people in our building that do whatever it takes each day. I know it may seem that our boat is small, but we are making a difference. I hope you have a great weekend!
Kristie
Next Ron Clark Academy Visit- January 15th! Those attending should have received an email. Let me know if you did not receive an email and have not been. I want to make sure everyone goes.
Soup Night
Soup Night is next Tuesday, November 10th. Please make sure you have signed up to bring a crock pot full of soup. We will need help setting up tables Tuesday afternoon, so please stop by the cafeteria after 4:15. The night will begin with a performance from our chorus and then we will serve soup to our families. Always a fun event!
House Council Leadership Elections
We would like to meet with all students running for leadership positions in their houses today at 1:00 in the cafeteria. This meeting will be brief. We will be discussing with them what they need to include in their speeches for the next house meeting. During this meeting, those running for office will speak and then the houses will vote. We are going to meet with them Monday at 1:00 to help create campaign posters and Tuesday to read over speeches. Each of these meetings will be at 1:00. The next house meetings are scheduled for Thursday, November 12th.

Classroom Visits
I will be visiting classrooms over the next few weeks. I am so excited to see all that is going on in your rooms. :-)
SLO's
I still need some of you to sign your SLO's. I will come to you sometime today to get your signatures.
Guided Reading
Please make sure you are purposeful in your planning for your guided reading lessons. Remember to have a guided reading notebook with your plans and anecdotal notes on your students at your guided reading tables. This time with students will truly progress them in their reading. Thank you Stacey for all of your help with reading!
Homework
Please make sure you are giving homework as practice for skills you have covered in class. Keep in mind the amount you are giving so that it does not take a child longer than 30-45 minutes to complete. As with any assignment, we want homework to be purposeful and the intent to be a small amount just to ensure mastery of skills.
