February Newsletter
A Message from the Principal
Hello Robins K-8 families,
February is a busy month for our school! There are various national celebrations that we will be participating in school wide.
- On Monday, February 5th, we launch our celebration of “Black History Month” by participating in the “National African American Read-In” Day! This is our 10th year participating in this national and district sponsored event. It was created in 1990 by the National Council of English Teachers, to encourage and motivate students to read and promote diversity in children’s literature.
- Please join us in celebrating "National School Counselors" week, Feb. 5th-9th. We appreciate Ms. Walters and all of her support. If you would like to send an email of appreciation, please email Rachael.Walters@tusd1.org.
Did you know that on Valentine’s Day, Arizona will celebrate its birthday as well? We became a state on February 14, 1912! We will be 112 years old!
Please remember that we have Parent/Teacher conferences on Feb. 8th & 9th and dismissal for ALL students is at 11:45 a.m.
There will be no school on Feb. 22nd & 23rd due to Rodeo Break.

Free Meals for All Schools
TUSD Parent/Guardian- You are receiving this message since you have a student with a balance remaining on their meal account. With meals now free to all students, please review the important information below regarding meal account balances.
- Breakfast and lunch meals charged in the month of January will be credited as we are able to retro the free meals to January 2024. Food Services is currently working on crediting all student meal accounts charged for meals in January. Each individual student account with meals charged must be credited so this process will take some time for our team to complete over the coming weeks. We greatly appreciate your patience as we issue all account credits.
- Meal account balances can be donated to assist with TUSD student meal debt. Any funds donated go directly towards student meal debt. If you would like to donate your student meal account balance, please complete the TUSD Meal Debt Donation Form.
- If you have a student in grades 6-12, snack items remain available during breakfast and lunch for students to purchase. You may choose to leave the account balance in place for snack purchases (a la carte). Second meals are also available for purchase at high schools. Funds can also be transferred to siblings in grades 6-12 to be available for purchasing snacks.
- Once all accounts are credited for meals charged in January, we will be able to move forward with processing refunds. To request a meal account balance refund, please complete the TUSD Meal Account Refund Request Form. Once the meal charges from January are credited, we will begin processing refund checks. We anticipate refunds being processed following this month.
- If no action is taken, the account balance remains and carries over year to year for your enrolled student.
- If you have set up auto deposits to your meal account, please be sure to cancel to prevent any further refunds needed.
Thank you for your patience and understanding as we complete this process. We are thrilled to be able to now offer free meals to all students!
For any questions, please contact TUSD Food Services Department at foodservices@tusd1.org or call (520) 225-4700.

A Message from the Library
Hey, Scholars.
There are a few exciting things happening this month. It’s African American History month, there should be some amazing decorations and plenty of books to learn more about African American history and culture. Also, we are having the African American Read In on February 5th . Your teachers will be bringing you to the library to hear stories written by African American authors.
The book fair will be back in town starting February 12th, and it will be longer than our last one (which was only about 2 ½ days), so you will have a decent amount of time to come in and buy books! Your parents can load e-wallets for you, which makes buying a book fast and easier. We are going to do the reading tickets again, so remember if you’re caught reading, you will be busted with a reading ticket! The more tickets you get, the more you can enter into a drawing for a prize! Also, there is a new “Dogman: The Scarlet Shedder” coming out March 19th but you can preorder a copy in advance. Ask your friendly librarian for more details.
See you in the library!
