Pirate eLearning Academy: Week #2
We had an awesome zoom meeting on Thursday. It was good to see everyone and hear your ideas and input.
After reflecting on our conversation, I believe we need to organize and simplify a few things.
From this point forward we are going to use the word required assignments in regard to student learning and iReady online paths. Please do not overwhelm parents with your assignments. As discussed, using one platform (SMORE, ClassDoJo) with the week scheduled day by day with suggested times will help our students and parent tremendously!
The conversation has started at the district level about collecting grades in elementary. Now that we can measure how many students we are reaching in your class, start giving parents feedback on their child's work. They need to know if their child is completing assignments and if not, we need to know why it is not getting completed. Continue to call and talk to our parents. Remember the main goal for K-2 is to get iReady minutes completed (45 minutes in each path) and have the child read to or with an adult each day. Monitor minutes, flags, domains and percent accuracy in iReady. Grades 3 -5 have the same goal with additional google classroom assignments to support current learning. Holding virtual classrooms is also very important, so set a time each week/day for your students to have the opportunity to see your face and ask questions if needed.
Next week, April 6th - 10th we will observe spring break. ePirate Academy will resume on April 13th. I want you to take this time to unplug, exercise, relax, and enjoy the beautiful weather.
Every day I am more impressed by the work you are doing. IF there is anything you need, don't hesitate to call, text, FaceTime me.
Don't forget to take care of yourself!

Teachers, please make sure your assistants have completed this!
