A Message from Mrs. Barraza
Greetings Fernandez families~
I hope all our Bulldog Families had wonderful Easter weekend! 💐 Spring is my favorite time of the year. I enjoy seeing the beautiful wild flowers on the side of the roads, trees and flowers blooming with new leaves, and butterflies dancing across bright green yards. What is just as nice is the weather. As it starts to get warmer, there are more opportunities for enjoying activities outdoors. This spring is very special because our Bulldogs will get to experience their first Total Solar Eclipse (please see below for more information) and Bulldog Day will be here soon!
In order to make Bulldog Day successful, we need your help! Below you will find opportunities to donate items for our silent auction, as well as some food items. Please feel free to drop off your items each morning when you bring your child to school. We'll have a cart out front and will be happy to receive the items. Bulldog Day is a special day for our students, family, and community and we are grateful for all your donations!
It is also hard to believe that we are in our last grading period for the school year, but there is still so much to do. In fact, part of that work is to prepare for next school year. Below you will also find information on verifying your student's data in HAC to ensure they are enrolled for the 2024-2025 school year and that we save a space for them here at Fernandez.
As always, Mr. Johnson and I appreciate your support as your child(ren) continue to grow at Fernandez. Take care and we'll see you soon!
Respectfully,
Mrs. Barraza

Returning Student Data Verification for the 2024-2025 School Year
Attention Parents:
We are very honored to be working with your child at Fernandez this year! In preparing for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year, NISD student information for all currently enrolled schools must be verified by June 1, 2024 to ensure that your child has a space at Fernandez next year. If their Data Verification form is submitted after June 1, 2024, it is possible that your child could be sent to another campus if our classes become full at Fernandez. During this time, your child's registration takes priority.
Here's how to begin:
Go to the NISD Home Access Center (HAC) website https://hac.nisd.net/ (http://track.spe.schoolmessenger.com/f/a/yy0Znzpa-UwHT5yze_qIsA~~/AAAAAQA~/RgRn2whNP0QVaHR0cHM6Ly9oYWMubmlzZC5uZXQvVwdzY2hvb2xtQgpl8c3U-WXcbUTzUhZmcmFuay5qb2huc29uQG5pc2QubmV0WAQAAAAB)
Follow the steps below:
If you already have a HAC account:
1) Your LOGIN is the email address to which the message was sent.
2) Your PASSWORD is the same HAC password that you have previously used.
3) After logging in, click on the REGISTRATION tab.
4) Click on Update Enrollment tab
5) Click START
6) The first time you log in you will be asked to certify that you are over 13 years old. You will then enter your student’s birthday to validate the registration account.
7) You will be asked if the student is returning to NISD for the 2024-25 school year. If your child will be returning to ANY NISD school next year, select YES. If your child will NOT be returning to ANY NISD school, select NO and follow the question prompt.
8) Click NEXT.
9) Review your child’s information and update as needed. Click SUBMIT to complete the registration process for your child.
10) If you have multiple elementary students, click on the CHANGE STUDENT icon on the far right of your student’s name in HAC, select another student and follow the same steps above. Review data and complete the registration process for each student.
If you have any trouble accessing HAC or you do not see one of your children, please contact the school office and ask to speak with Neida Lopez, our Attendance Secretary as she will be able to assist you with this process. If the campus is not able to resolve your issue, please complete the form using the link below and District staff can reset your password or link students in a family if necessary.

Once again, we want to stress the importance of verifying your student's information by June 1, 2024.
We appreciate your attention to this important matter and thank you for taking the time to register your child in Fernandez.
Thank you

Having Lunch With Your Child
We welcome parents to have lunch with their child in the cafeteria during their class designated lunch time. Please sit at the visitor's table located under the flags near the cafeteria entrance. Due to safety concerns, other students are not permitted to sit at the parent lunch table without their parents. Food should only be brought for your child.
Having lunch with your child is a special occasion and we understand wanting to capture the moment. Please refrain from taking pictures with other students in the background to respect student privacy.

Dismissal Reminders
After School Dismissal
This year we are excited to implement the iDismiss dismissal system to continue enhancing our campus safety measures. iDismiss is a program that will allow us to dismiss students from inside the building. Here's how it works...
Each student will be assigned a dismissal number. Siblings will be assigned the same number.
Parents will have numbers on their car tags that must be hung on the rearview mirror to help expedite the dismissal process.
Your child's number will be entered into the iDismiss system as you drive up and your child will be ushered outside for you to pick them up where they will wait with a staff member.
This is being implemented with the interest of safety and security and we ask for your patience as we work out the kinks the first couple of days of school.
PreK thru 1st Grade
All PreK thru 1st grade students will be dismissed at the front of the school. If they have 2nd thru 5th grade siblings, all your students can be picked up in the front of the school.
ALE, 2nd thru 5th Grades
All 2nd thru 5th grade students will be dismissed in the back bus loop.
If you are a parent "walk-up" for a 2nd thru 5th grade student, you must pick up your student in the front of the building.
Parent Walk Ups
All parents wishing to park and walk up to the front of the school to pick up their child are welcome to do so. We ask that you line up on the right side of the front doors along the pathway. This is to ensure that parents who have been checked in can wait for their student and reunite as they arrive to the front. Please be sure to have your student's dismissal number ready.
**All PreK thru 5th grade parent walk ups will be dismissed from the front of the school.
**In the event that it is raining, then you may line up on the ramp.
iDismiss Tags
Please use your new 23-24 iDismiss student numbers that were issued at meet the teacher night to help expedite the dismissal process. If you need an additional tag or your child's number, please request one through your child's teacher.
REMINDER: Please hang your dismissal tag on your rearview mirror to help expedite the dismissal process.
Dismissal Changes
If at any time there are changes to how your child will be going home, please contact the front office at (210) 397-1900.
