Christmas Incident of 2017
For those of you who have not heard from Nugget yet, Mrs. Riedeman touched his mommy's elf, thus stealing its magic. It has been touch and go all day, but it looks like the little fellow will be making a full recovery.
The second graders have forgiven Mrs. Riedeman, but not before telling her, "not to do it again"!

SLS Faculty Giving Tree
The SLS Faculty Giving Tree will be offered again this year for those interested in honoring our teachers and staff during the Christmas Season! The Tree is ready for visitors!
Here is how it works.
OPTION 1 (The Tags)
The PTO asks each teacher to list some personal and school items that they would like to receive. Teachers fill out a wish list. Tags are made and displayed on a "tree" bulletin board outside the Kindergarten rooms for parents to select and purchase the item. The tags will stay up until Tuesday, December 19.
OPTION 2 (You want to buy for many teachers)
This option is popular for those families that wish to honor several teachers. Using the attached form, select the teachers you would like to honor, and send it back to the office with any amount. This amount will be divided among the teachers that you select. Please make checks payable to "Batesville Chamber of Commerce", as the teachers will receive Batesville Bucks. Place the form and your check in an envelope marked “Giving Tree” and send to the school office by Friday, December 15th, 2017.
Of course, this program is optional. It is a great way to maximize your gift giving dollars. The teachers get exactly what they want and you save time!! It's a win win!
Any questions, please call Amy Tonges at 812-212-6702.
Thanks for participating in this year's giving tree!

Tobacco Awareness
On December 5 and 12, Meg Applegate from MMCH and Kim Linkel from the Coalition for a Drug Free Batesville came in to discuss with the 6th grade class the effects of smoking and smokeless tobacco. Many facts were given about all the harmful substances that are found in tobacco products. They also role played some ways to get out of a situation if someone offers them a cigarette or tobacco.
Thank you to MMCH and the Coalition for a Drug Free Batesville for allowing these ladies to present the program to our students!

Steubenville Youth Conference
The Steubenville Youth Conference is open to all Catholic teens in 8th-12th grades as of Fall 2017. We live in a world where there are voices shouting at us from all sides, trying to tell us who we are and who we aren’t, who we should be and who we shouldn’t be. If we pay too much attention to these voices, it won’t be long before we forget our true identity altogether. But amidst all the noise is our loving Father, who wants to make Himself known to us and speak truth about who we are.
God’s love is deeper and His plan for our lives is greater than anything the world has to offer – will we allow Him to reveal it to us? This summer, over 50,000 Catholic teens across North America will participate in 25 Steubenville Youth Conferences, and we want you to be one of them! Come experience the love of God in a new and more profound way. He has so much in store for you. June 15-17, 2018. Registrations are now open.
To register go to http://www.stlouis-batesville.org/ym__steubenville, email TeamJesusSteubenville@gmail.com, or call Carrie Wesseler (812)212-9477 or Angie Moster (812)212-7026. Thank you!

String Theory - Quality Affordable Music For Your Festival
String Theory was formed in 2016 and is comprised of former members of The Remains
and Haymarket Riot, two of Cincinnati’s most respected bands. We focus on classic rock
material from artists such as The Beatles, Eagles, CSN, America, Queen, Neil Young, Pink
Floyd, Simon and Garfunkle as well as some contemporary artists like Jason Mraz, Mumford
and Sons and Phil Phillips.
The four members of the group have over 100 years of performing experience and our focus
is to provide high quality entertainment for budget conscious parishes. There are a number of
bands that perform the festival circuit that are outside the budgets of most parishes. Our goal
is to service the smaller parishes and help them by supplying a quality evening of music and
working with your budgets to make it work for you. I am from a smaller parish in Cincinnati so
I know first hand how challenging this is.
Please feel free to contact me when you begin planning your festival for 2018. We would love to
have the opportunity to work with you.
Thank You,
Pete Ellerhorst
