Tips to look your best:
- Solid colors or small simple patterns photograph best.
- Avoid wearing shirts with logos or sayings.
- Sleeveless shirts may be in fashion but they accent the arms and look too casual.
- Bring a natural smile your family will treasure! Please remove your mask when photographed.

Odyssey of the Mind
Odyssey Of the Mind - Parent Information and Team Formation
Odyssey of the Mind is a creative problem-solving program which develops skills in young people that help them thrive in our technical world. This international program engages students in their learning by allowing their knowledge, creativity, and ideas to come to life in an exciting, productive environment. Teams of 5-7 participants, ages K-12th grade, build self-confidence, develop life skills, create new friendships, and are able to recognize and explore their true potential. Teams, coached by parent volunteers, will select one of five competitive problems that foster STEM enrichment activities, while they develop teamwork skills and complete their projects within budget and on time!
There will be a Parent Information Night and team formation on September 22 at 6:00 pm in the cafeteria at Dawson Middle School. For more information, visit www.dragonsodyssey.org
Talk Like a Pirate Day
Dot Day
What is Dot Day?
A book called The Dot by Peter. H. Reynolds inspired International Dot Day. The book is about a caring teacher who encourages a student named Vashti to “make her mark.” Vashti couldn’t draw, so she simply made a single dot on a piece of paper. This little dot was just the beginning of Vashti’s journey of self-discovery.
Core Essential of the Month
This core essential for the month of September is initiative.
Initiative is seeing what needs to be done and doing it right. Thank you for reinforcing initiative with your child!
JES Dragon T-Shirt
Every year the JES PTO purchases a Dragon t-shirt for each student. During the Annual Student Verification process when you registered for PTO, you included your student’s size in the registration form. We are placing that order today. This is our last call; if you have not already completed the PTO registration, please register here by the end of the day. If not, we will select the size based on grade level, so let’s get the correct size!
