Term 1 Week 6
Principal's Report
We have had a busy start to the school year, with our swimming carnival which was a fantastic success, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of our students. It was great to see many of you at our information afternoons followed by a barbecue just before a big storm!
The new playground has been a welcome activity at playtimes. Thank you to all who contributed to this project, ensuring our children have a safe and enjoyable space to play and socialise. In addition to enhancing our outdoor recreational areas, we are now directing our attention towards revitalising the seating area where the old playground once stood. I'm pleased to announce that plans are underway in collaboration with a TAFE project that will include more seating and shade. Thank you to the P&C who have donated funds towards materials for this.
As we approach the midpoint of Term 1, I encourage parents to schedule appointments to meet with their child's teacher during Week 7. While this may not be necessary for all families, it serves as a valuable opportunity to discuss your child's progress and address any concerns you may have.
Looking ahead, we have an exciting whole school excursion planned for Wednesday to Symbio Wildlife Park. This will be an exciting day for Kindergarten as they go on their first excursion and all students will enjoy live animal presentations and activity based learning.
Lastly, I'd like to remind you to mark your calendars for the Fathering Project event scheduled for Tuesday, March 26. Join us for an evening of Burgers and Basketball, starting from 5 pm. This promises to be a fun-filled event for fathers and father figures to bond with their children and connect with other families within our school community. We require final number and Payment by Friday 22 March. Please pay via School Bytes. Go to Payments tab and add item - Basketball & Burgers.
On Thursday we will have a whole school assembly from 1.30 pm where we will be giving out Swimming carnival ribbons, SRC badges and Sports Captain badges. Alison Byrne our local MP will also be coming to see our new playground which she contributed $50 000 towards with her community grants. Parents are welcome to attend under the COLA.

Kitchen Garden News
School Garden News
Bee Highway Garden.
This year our primary students have been involved in the B&B highway innovative. We are planting more native plants in our school grounds to help save and support our native bees and pollinators in our area.
To be able to plant more native plants we need to create a new garden bed out the front of the school along the fence line. We need parent helpers to help prepare the bed eg remove existing grass, laying old cardboard boxes down as a weed mat and then help with mulching. Students have started, but we need your help, as it is a large area.
We have marked out the area, so if you have any spare time and are interested in helping, please see office or Joanne Chilton. We are happy for you to come in and help at any time during the week that suits you. School does have some tools, but you may wish to bring your own (No strong, flat blade shovels). In the future we may also organise a working bee, but we thought we would try this way first.
Empty cardboard boxes needed urgently. Any size, the larger the better. Please bring into school asap and place on the seating circle seats in the garden.
Parent/ grandparent volunteers needed to help during our kitchen garden and connecting threads classes. Classes are running Monday to Thursday 12.40pm - 1.40pm. Each day a different class is in the garden. We particularly need assistance on Thursday, as this is a larger class. If you are interested in helping on one of those days or maybe a few days please let office know or talk to Joanne Chilton. Your help would be greatly appreciated.
