Board of Education Transitions Members
The D103 Board of Education thanked Board Members Malathy Dwaraknath and Liang Yang for their years of service on the school board during its meeting, Tuesday, May 4. Following the farewell of departing members, newcomers Maria Peterson and Michael Weaver along with incumbents Kate Harper and Anne van Gerven were sworn into office.
Board Says Farewell to Members
The D103 Board thanked Mrs. Dwaraknath and Mrs. Yang for their devotion to District 103 and wished them well in their future endeavors. Mrs. Dwaraknath served six years on the school board and Mrs. Yang served four years.
President van Gerven said, "I have thoroughly enjoyed getting to know you, working with you, and all that we've done together."
Of their service to the school board Superintendent Scott Warren said, “Mrs. Dwaraknath and Mrs. Yang have served our community selflessly to ensure our children receive the highest quality education. They have overseen construction projects at all three schools, curriculum changes, strategic planning, maintained a fiscally stable district, and governed through one of the most difficult times in history as the COVID-19 pandemic changed how we conduct school. We are grateful for their service and wish them well as they retire from the Board of Education.”
