News You Can Use
March 20, 2020
Principal's Note
Dear Ravinia Families,
As we continue to experience this unique time in our lives, I want to continue to connect with you through a weekly News You Can Use on Fridays. It will contain announcements, updates, and maybe a tip or two from one working parent to another! I hope we can all be a source of support for each other and for your children.
I know this time is uncertain, especially as reports of positive cases of COVID-19 continue to increase in Lake County and the Highland Park community. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything. I can tell you that at my house, we are making it through with daily exercise, a very healthy sense of humor, and some Calm Classroom techniques!
Warmly,
Courtney Nordstrom
Important Dates: Birthdays!
At Ravinia, we have daily morning announcements, and part of this important tradition includes celebrating birthdays. I am going to be posting a weekly video announcement on Mondays to our Ravinia School Facebook page and our Twitter account. You don't need to have a Twitter account to access the videos! Just go to Twitter.com and put #RaviniaRocks or @RaviniaSchool in the search bar. I'm also posting some other fun content - check out my Try Something New posts from this week!

Teaching and Learning Update
The continuation of learning, including an online self-paced collection of courses for students in grades 1-8, will be available possibly late next week (March 19th). Information will be sent out when it’s available.
We will extend an option for K-2 parents regarding iPads, and specific plans for sending home devices, in a separate communication next week.
Planning with teachers and administrators for teacher/student interaction during this prolonged break is underway.
We anticipate offering teacher/student “classroom” time via web-based solutions for distance learning following spring break.
