Kindergarten Registration
The online portal for registration will open at www.pgsd.org on February 18, 2020. When you get to the homepage, click the link for kindergarten registration and you will be directed to the registration portal. Kindergarten students need to be age 5 prior to September 1 to be registered.
Once you complete the online portion, the next step will be to attend our Kindergarten Round Up! During this step, you will need to present the appropriate documentation to complete the registration process. The documents needed are: proof of residency (deed or lease and 2 current utility bills), up to date immunizations for the child, original birth certificate of the child and photo ID for the parent completing the registration.
Our Kindergarten Round Up will be held at Pottsgrove High School on April 28, 2020 from 1pm-7pm. This will be a time for you to meet some of our building staff and the principal. There will be fun activities for our upcoming kindergarteners as well!
In addition to the above dates, the buildings will be open on April 7th, from 2-4 PM to allow access to the computer lab for the on-line registration portion and to provide assistance.
The Pottsgrove School District is committed to providing you and your son or daughter a smooth transition into our kindergarten program. If you have specific questions, please feel free to contact us at any time.

Outdoor Recess
Please be mindful of dropping temperatures as we head into the winter months. Students will still go outside for their recess periods if the temperature or wind chill is above 20 degrees. Be sure to send your student to school with hats, coats, and gloves when appropriate.
If a student is not dressed appropriately for the weather conditions, they may be kept indoors for recess.
If you are in need of any winter hats or coats, please contact Mrs. Snyder, our school counselor.

Nurse's Office News
Greetings from the school nurse. As many of you know, we have had multiple cases of the flu in our school. There have been over 2,500 cases in Montgomery County alone according to the CDC. We are sending out a gentle reminder to please keep your students home if they are sick. The following are district-wide policies regardless of a doctor's note. Students may not return to school for 24 hours if they have had any of the following; fever > 100.4, vomiting, and/or diarrhea.
We understand that everyone has work commitments and other demands, however, our goal is to keep all students and staff safe and healthy for the remainder of the year.
Thank you in advance,
Rochelle Trump, RN
Lunch Accounts
As a reminder, notices are sent home each week for students who have a negative lunch balance. Payments can be set up through My School Bucks, www.myschoolbucks.com, or can be sent into school in an envelope with your child's name on it stating it contains lunch money.
If you have any questions, please call the office.

Omegaman Assembly
Students are invited to join us in taking a stand against bullying by wearing their favorite superhero shirt on the day of the assembly!
All-Star Teachers Contest
The Phillies will honor great educators in the region who are making a difference on May 1, 2020, during the 20th annual Teacher Appreciation Night powered by Constellation. Each year, the Phillies select 10 area teachers, nominated by current and former students, parents and peers, to honor as All-Star Teachers. Now through March 13, 2020 at 4:59 p.m. ET, you can nominate a teacher, past or present, who has positively impacted your life.
Please feel free to e-mail community@phillies.com with any questions regarding the program.
Get Counted in the U.S. Census
Every 10 years, everyone living in the United States is asked to complete a simple but very important constitutional task: respond to the census. The 2020 Census is a questionnaire that asks a few basic questions, like age, sex, and the number of people who live or stay in your home, including young children and newborn babies. The next decennial census starts in March of 2020 and responding is easy, safe, and important.
Newborn babies and young children under five are often missed in the census. The 2020 Census helps determine which areas qualify for the critical resources that children and families depend on for the next 10 years—basically, an entire childhood! Examples of resources that could be impacted include food assistance, Head Start, childcare, housing support, public schools, early intervention services for children with special needs, children’s health insurance, and more. Knowing how many children there are and where they live is essential to getting those services and programs to them. That’s why it’s so important that every child be counted, even newborn babies.
Please see the flyer below for more information on the importance of ensuring young children are counted in the 2020 census.
Congratulations, Tucker!
