Rose Lane Principal...
'Tis the season.....to appreciate all that we've done in 2022! Thinking back to last year, when we were climbing cautiously out of the pandemic, I can't help but be grateful for where we are now. Some highlights:
- Our staff in all departments are helping students to thrive, and I'm very proud of the children for working so hard each and every day. Recently, we finished our winter MAP testing, during which all grade levels participated in computer-based testing related to grade level standards. Kudos to Mr. Reyes for organizing a very smooth testing window, and to teachers who helped kids to grow in reading and math over the last four and a half months!
- The Penguin Patch Holiday Shoppe was a huge success! Many thanks to Mrs. Roxanne Montiel and Mrs. Val Perez, who organized the entire sale. Volunteers also set up, helped student shoppers, and packed up - thanks for your time and creativity!
- Our Field Day for 3rd and 4th grade was so much fun! Thank you, parents, for donating otter pops to refresh the kids as they went through their stations, and also for volunteering to run the activities. Coach G knocked it out of the ballpark with her creative ideas and fun games.
- Our Spelling Bee was fantastic! Please see the information on our two champions in this issue. Many thanks to Ms. Frazier, our coordinator; Mr. Reyes, who tracked the spellers in each round; and Mrs. Cameron, our announcer.
- Mr. Roach and the Children's Choir performed at two community centers, sporting the new T-shirts purchased by Rocket Boosters. So proud of our 3rd and 4th grade singers!
- The Kindergarten team had a blast at the Tolmachoff Farms, and our author visit with Bridget Heos was also a huge success!
These last two events were funded by our $50.00 mandatory student activity fee. If you have not already paid this, please navigate to the MSD website to make your payment through your Powerschool Parent Portal. We fund our Cool Kids Recess program from activity fees, as well as pay for field trip admissions and transportation.
Should you wish to make an additional donation, you are able to do so on the MSD website at Madison School District Tax Credit Donation Site (intouchreceipting.com). The Tax Credit program allows every person who files an income tax return with the State of Arizona the opportunity to receive a tax credit for contributing to extracurricular activities. Anyone can participate: married or single, with or without children. Married couples filing jointly may claim up to $400. Single persons, heads of households, and married couples filing separately may all claim up to $200.
When we return on January 3rd, 2023, we ask that you continue to follow all of our procedures for safe drop-off and pick-up. Safety may not be convenient, but it is the most important aspect of our operation. Our community is amazingly supportive, and we could not do it without you, beautiful families and caregivers! Meanwhile, have a safe, peaceful, and wonderful break with your families, and we will see you back here at Rose Lane in 2023!

Title I Parent Information
Did you know that Madison Rose Lane benefits from the federal program, Title I? Title I is a category of funding, which we receive annually. The funds are based on the percentage of students participating in our free and reduced lunch program. We are required to use our funding for programs and services which improve the academic outcomes for all students at Rose Lane, in grades Kindergarten through 4th Grade.
Over the last four years, we have chosen to use our Title I budget primarily to fund two of the three staff positions in our Rocket Reader program. In addition to this, we have also been able to pay for teacher planning time during the summer; and professional development for staff who then are certified to train other teachers. These have a direct impact on the classroom, since teachers implement their new skills in their instruction, and our school administration specifically looks for how they are using those skills to help all students learn.
In addition, we have annual expenses related to Fundations (our phonics program) which are used by children each year. These include workbooks and materials, and since they are consumable, we renew our purchase annually using our Title I budget.
As part of its commitment to support students, Rose Lane has a Parent/Student/School Partnership which describes how we will work together to help students achieve. It is known as our Compact, and it is available on page 5 of our Parent-Student Handbook. Here is the link for your reference: https://www.madisonaz.org/Page/465. There are paper copies available in our front office as well.
For more information related to our Title I funding, programs, and services, please contact Mrs. Devine at 602-664-7400.

Rose Lane Rocket Boosters News...
Greetings Rose Lane Families,
Rose Lane Rocket Boosters would like to thank every volunteer, all the families who came out for fall carnival, caregivers who purchased wrapping paper or cookies, from the holiday sales. Thank you all for your support. From Art Masterpiece volunteers to helpers at field day. Thank you for donations to Thanksgiving Sharing. We succeeded in our goal, and because of that, we hope that our fellow families got to relax a bit more this past thanksgiving. The generous support from every one of you brings a warm addition to Rose Lane.
Looking into the new year, we wish you nothing but health, prosperity, safety, and comfort.
With appreciation,
Rocket Boosters
